      prepare to be defeated !

Mr. Whelan needs to accept that choosing Malky Mackay has been a disaster for him personally and professionally for his football club.

No further comment on Mackay’s indiscretions or indeed his Chairman’s attempts to defend them are required. How the effect of those actions have impacted should be evaluated. Actions, behaviour and the consequence is that we sit in a perilous position at the base of the Championship with most other clubs sneering at the clowns.

Anxiety and embarrassment are the emotions felt, along with anger, at how our proud club is being turned in to a circus.

We should give the vote on who the next manager will be to the players has they have not played up to the standard we know they are capable of for the last two managers .Something is wrong normally has others have said you get some kind of upturn in results when a new manager is brought in this lot of shown only in glimpses what they are capable of it sounds well when the highlight of this season is the linesmon who got knocked over in the Norwich game stands out

I believe that everyone is too focused on this and I can’t quite get myself to believe it. Nuneatonlatic said it on another thread – 3 managers and no change to the backroom staff; I believe that if Mackay had been allowed to bring with him all the others (of his choosing) then things would be a bit different. It could be argued that Whelan has kept the current backroom staff because they are cheap and no other compo needed to have been paid to bring in others, however, it would appear that if that is the case then his ‘penny pinching’ has resulted in the clubs current predicament.

I understand everyone has their own views on this and, to be quite honest, I don’t think that bringing in a new manager is the solution. Bringing in someone with some clout to assist him (beside Kerslake) may offer fresh ideas and fresh impetus to the team.

For me Barrow and his merry men – (c) Nuneatonlatic – need to go in this window as well.

That would be the thing I would look to change too IWBITD. The only other constant apart from the players.

I have said the same thing too.

The one constant factor, who can be seen during the game “advising” the manager.

Having said that, the manager needs to put his foot down.

Now starting to think he could be a manic depressive and that’s the reason for his negativity

I think that when we first started to punch above our weight and reach the dizzy heights of the prem, it was important to keep a small hold onto our roots. Having people like Barrow, Benson, Cribley and Mathias around, made sure we didn’t lose our true identity and kept the link with the wonderful historic past of Wigan Athletic Football Club, a decent little club from the Northern Premier League and beyond.

I was living the dream with a lot of other fans of my age, but it also hurt to know that many of the people I grew up on Springy terraces with, unfortunately had passed away and never had the chance to see us in the second tier of English football, never mind the top.

It’s with sadness that I now feel its time to shrug off any physical reminders of those “black and white” days and just leave vivid memories for those old enough to remember, to cherish and talk about with their kids, grand kids and great grand kids.

The football world now knows who Wigan Athletic are and where we have come from, being in prem for several years and winning the FA Cup has made sure of that. Whether they give a shiny shyte about it or not, is irrelevant.

So, lets start a new, out with the old backroom staff and players from the prem and build a team of fighters who have hunger for playing in the prem….. with Wigan Athletic.
Defying all odds is Wigan Athletic’s core value, so if it takes the signing of some bright up and coming young kids from the Scottish third tier or England’s Sky Bet league two, lets ger um, train um and play um. We’ve done it before, we can do it again. The club is in great shape financially, so whether its Whelan at the helm or not, we will survive.

              From Matlock to ManU
              What a journey!
