Yes his chippy closed but he’s a Wigan Athletic fan more than you or me, Joyce was a gamble (it still might be a correct one) but I’d fight his corner any day of the week he’s a fan and a chairman and I bet he hurts more than us.

5 March 2017 at 3:03 am #156312Anyone can run a business, but only a good businessman will run a profitable one.
As yet the lad hasn’t managed to make a financial success out of either business he’s been in charge of. Sure, we got promoted last season, but with the best part of £10m in parachute payments, then anything other than promotion would have been failure.
Next season will be the acid test for young Dave. No parachute payment means the club will have to be run pretty bloody well to stop more of granddad’s hard-earned cash pouring into a black hole.
5 March 2017 at 3:24 am #156314Course sharpy runs it but after oh feel sorry for me i broke my leg grandad says so
5 March 2017 at 12:51 pm #156321It was only a few years ago Dave Whelan said that he didn’t know what would happen to the club when he retired as both his grandchildren weren’t interested. Now they have been lifelong Latics fans. Whoever thinks that Sharp is running the club is living in ‘cloud cuckoo’ land

Whoever thinks that Sharp is running the club is living in ‘cloud cuckoo’ landI like Sharpe but I do get that impression especially with DW still providing the cash.
5 March 2017 at 2:08 pm #156331I think the lad faces a real quandary over the next few weeks. We are at that time of year when we will be thinking about next seasons ticket prices. Does he admit he got it hopelessly wrong and bin Joyce or does he keep him and hope ticket sales hold up in a lower league. I think a lot will stay away if Yootha is still here.

Does he pay for his ticket & travel to away matches?
I so want him to do well, he is a young & naive bloke that has a lot to learn. But to be fair, i wouldn’t want to own / run a football club.
6 March 2017 at 12:12 am #156376I’d have him over any of the mega rich foreign owners.
Regardless of what league we are in.

I know what you mean, it would be horrible to have a Billionaire owner and to be in the PL fighting for qualification to the Champions League every season, watching world class players in a packed stadium.
I’d much rather be strapped for cash watching inept performances week in week out and fighting off relegation to League One.
It really is the stuff of dreams at the moment, Chelsea, Man U, Spurs and Arsenal etc just don’t know what they are missing and would surely swap places with us and visit places like Crawley every other week.

absolutely, he cares about the club and I don’t think you can say that about the Venkys of this world. He’ll always try and do the best by the club, yes he will make mistakes he’s young and there may be dark days just ahead but there will be good days coming aswell.
A few pints with my mates before and after the game a great way to spend a Saturday and it doesn’t matter what league your in.

Sarcastic tw*t![/quote]What do you expect coming out with shit like that. Its like saying you’d rather have a fat ugly wife instead of a stunner, or live in a doorway instead of a mansion.
I’ve nothing against Mr Sharpe, but if a billionaire came to him with an open cheque book I would hope he would have the sense to snatch their hand off and go.
It ain’t going to happen, but I know what I would rather have.
