… do a team get to choose who they play in a semi-final
This isn’t an anti-Warriors post, btw, just an observation about a sport that has some very strange rules.
23 September 2012 at 11:18 pm #93633Are you sure Man Utd don’t get to choose Garswood, they get to decide everything else by the looks of it.
Have to agree, the set up in rugby is cringeworthy, a team that loses more games than it wins can ultimately be crowned champions, and there’s games in the play off system that don’t matter a jot? Crazy but true.
24 September 2012 at 2:18 am #93680why do they not have the top 8 playing off ie 1 v 8 2v 7 and all that very strange when you can loose and still win the cup
24 September 2012 at 3:05 am #93683even the rugby fans arnt to chuffed about the club call theory

small minority localized village games have to make things look big, brash, loud etc to get people interested in it. In reality, it’s make it cringe worthy, cheap, embarrassing and loses all credibility.
A 1st round play off game (st H v Warr) is now the grand final place decider or what ever it’s called. How on earth could that possibly be??? it’s a non competitive concept as you can lose but you still know you get an extra life!!!!! PATHETIC AND A NON-ENTITY SPORT.
Still, i expect 20k on whenever they play leeds, last home game and most important of the season, top 2 supported sides in their top flight (both less than wafc by the way) anything less and it will be an even bigger embarrassment than their “sport” already is.
24 September 2012 at 5:27 pm #93726You seem overly bitter about our egg chasing friends SirDave, I can have a guess why, but the classier thing to do would be to leave them to it, by having a pop at them at every opportunity, mainly regarding attendances, you are acting in a way no better than they did towards us when we were a lower league side with low attendances, leave em to it, like you say, the way they’re going and the way the RFL is run, they’ll be semi pro again within 10 years.
I used to play rugby as a youngster, I was quite good and we won various cups and leagues, including the English schools championship, I only finished through injury, and I still know a lot of lads that play at amateur level, tough sport, and they’ve got balls smashing the frig out of each other of a weekend, handshakes and smiles afterwards, I find it refreshing after watching premier league football that will end up being played in slippers and on lush carpet the way it’s going.
We all have our faults, but trying to take the piss out of the best supported rugby league club in the country is poor form really, uncle mo is long gone, let it go man, it’s history, a bit like rugby league.

Nope, never will. Nothing against the players (i actually know 2) their speccies are a diff story altogether though. When the shoes on the other foot they want to sweep it under the carpet and “let bygones be bygones”. sorry pal, not gonna happen fella.
27 September 2012 at 3:40 am #93899Bad ticket sales for the number one team in world rugby
from North Korea .com
seems the clubs worried about ticket sales.
I had a recorded message off Sean Wane earlier urging me to buy.for the record there is 38% availabilty in the South….as opposed to the usual 8-10%
49% and 65% for each half of the East..usually 25% ish
42% and 61% in the West
assuming Leeds dont bring more than 2,000 i think as the moment we are looking at about 12,00027 September 2012 at 12:22 pm #93916Are you sure Man Utd don’t get to choose Garswood, they get to decide everything else by the looks of it.I could understand them choosing Wigan or Reading but choosing Garswood is just taking the mick

27 September 2012 at 2:14 pm #93930Do you think they’ll be watering the pitch ahead of the game?

assuming Leeds dont bring more than 2,000 i think as the moment we are looking at about 12,000place in grand final between top 2 in the attendance table (albeit a pointless one inc teams that get 1k,2k 6k on). Anything less than 19k is a joke. I heard they’ve already used the “flooding @ saddle” excuse already.
Why can’t they just admit that, like 95% of the uk population, no one is interested or cares
27 September 2012 at 5:43 pm #93962Why can’t they just admit that, like 95% of the uk population, no one is interested or caresWell, by your own definition, 5% of the population is interested, including you, obviously.
I reckon that 99.9% of this board are no longer interested, mind.
