Not saying we shouldnt aim to keep winning but on league form Burnley are actually in better form than us over the last ten games.
We would have to beat them to get it to 6 points (7 realistically with goal average). Sorry but 9 or 10 points at this stage is a tough turn around. Cementing play off place priority till mid April.16 March 2014 at 12:26 pm #128745Agreed. We all know what happens to the teams that aim for 2nd and end up finishing 3rd. If by some miracle we finish 2nd then happy days, but we shouldn’t chase it. 6th place would do me and a playoff semi final vs whoever finishes 3rd and has physically and psychologically run out of steam.
16 March 2014 at 4:00 pm #128746In any competitive situation you should aim very high and see what happens and it seems our manager is doing just that.
Rosler will have forgotten yesterday already and will be focusing on Yeovil at home now which is what the great managers always do.
after the next two fixtures the rest of them look very tough indeed but we said that going into march and if we keep on winning who knows?
Burnley haven’t had wobble yet and will certainly get nervy as they approach the final straight –

maybe ,maybe ,maybe!EXACTLY (VH)
And as for Burnley being in better form in last 10 versus Latics last 8 …boll2cks ! Forget NOT who we hsve beaten recently, tough away days at City, Forest, BHA, Ipswich, Cardiff …. beat Palace at home (W,W,W,W,W,W …)
COME ON … !!!!
WE ARE IN A RICH VEIN OF FORM, CONFIDENCE HIGH, WITH COMPETITION FOR PLACES
ONWARDS AND UPWARDS !
16 March 2014 at 4:50 pm #128748Geez you’re excitable. Forget emotion. Facts are in last ten games both ourselves and Burnley have 22 points from 10 games. On paper they have the easiest run in and have (even if we win games in hand) in effect a ten point margin with 11 games remaining. We have been in the top 6 for around two weekends this year. Rather than concentrate on catching second who are 15 points ahead I would imagine there’s more sense looking to retain our place in the play off places. Geez. Some people don’t half get carried away!
16 March 2014 at 4:51 pm #128749Burnley have gone 12 games without defeat – 7 wins and five draws. Wigan have won 8 games in a row.
They both look pretty good runs to me.
Wigan go to Burnley on Monday 21 April. It’s too early to know how much will be at stake.
17 March 2014 at 1:56 pm #128761On current form, injuries permitting, and in the unfortunate scenario Burnley lose one or the other key player (smaller squad), … why not ?
….12 cup finals (assuming no more injuries, WE have the squad, and NOW the FORM, and MANAGER to help us do itIt’s been a hard season already and we’re picking up injuries – Watson, McCann and now Barnett.
But we do have a large squad and should be able to cover the gaps. In defence we’ve got Crainey, Kiernan, Garcia, Rogne and Beausejour. And Cardwell and Maloney are back in training.
It looks as though our forwards are running into form too. It’s good to see so many potential goal scorers on the field.
And Arsenal gave a very weary performance at Spurs yesterday. Spurs dominated the play but Arsenal defended well and produced a single moment of brilliance in attack.
