Paul cook is 3 – 1 favourite to succeed mccarthy as ipswich boss. Hope its just a newsnow stirring thread.
23 April 2018 at 3:24 pm #168466Didn’t he come here as he wanted to move north to be closer to family?
23 April 2018 at 4:48 pm #16846810-1 is the best odds.
Ipswich is a club in turmoil.
23 April 2018 at 6:41 pm #168474You can read what you want into Cooks interview after the win at Fleetwood but it certainly sent out the wrong vibe to me. It sounded more like a man who’d had a bad experience with previous new owners and is on his toes now were certainly going to be taken over now were in the Championship next season.
He’s old school and some of these large companies take over not fully understand the management, staff, fans as a whole. You only have to look at director of marketing and communications, Richard Kenyon at Everton. Clueless or been told to whichever, it still shows certain owners treat it more like Asda than a football club, all about margins and what do the customers think of A/B/C.
I think Cook knows more about what’s in the pipe line next season and to me it sounded a little like he wasn’t that overwhelmed after what happened with the Pompey takeover. There’s at least 6 players not good enough for the Championship, I just hope there’s a 1/2 decent kitty on the table from the new owners to stabilize the club rather than end up a yo-yo club.
I give him 9.5/10 I would have give him 10/10 if we’d of beat a pish poor Southampton , , not a lot to ask was it Cooky !! :)
well done I hope there’s a good few years left for him at Wigan and the new owners back him to the hilt. If they do ? looking at the likes of Cardiff, Derby and Millwall all knocking on the door there’s hope for us all23 April 2018 at 9:13 pm #168476If he leaves and goes to Ipswich, then I’ll be amazed and will seriously consider packing in football and find another interest.
Ipswich are a decent football club, don’t get me wrong. Nothing against them. But it’s common knowledge their chairman won’t back managers financially. I read their forum when Mccarthy walked last week, and I’d say 8 out of 10 fans were sympathetic towards him, saying that Maurice Evans wouldn’t give him money to spend. Its been a graveyard for managers over the past 10 years or more. Keane… Jewell…theres two who failed there. McCarthy was only treading water, keeping them clear of relegation.
Surely? Paul Cook won’t fancy that, adding his name to the list. The bigger worry will be if Dyche leaves Burnley and they come sniffing. He could be tempted by that with his links and their current place.

Players & managers come & go in football all the time. Its all part & parcel of the game.
23 April 2018 at 10:57 pm #168486Managers come and go. They always have and always will. I am pretty sure Cook will be here next season, but if he isn’t it is of no concern whatsoever WHERE he has gone. Whether to Ipswich, Arsenal or back to Chesterfield. It will matter nothing to us other than he has gone.
But I don’t think he will.
Although there are a few exceptions (myself included) for fans a club is forever. Your support should not be affected by who is the manager.
Support whoever is in charge and whatever league we are in and whatever our prospects are.23 April 2018 at 11:54 pm #168487No wonder you get a hard time on here vat. We all know you won’t give up football if Cook leaves. You’ll carry on like you have since the 80s.

Hopefully it was a warning to the new owners?24 April 2018 at 2:56 am #168493He met the prospective owners when he flew out to Spain with Sharpe earlier in the year. But nobody picked up on that.
24 April 2018 at 11:18 am #168499I think you are all deluded.
Why would he leave us, with potential investment and funds coming in, for a club that is just treading water and has no funds to substantially back a manager?
It’s like working as a manager at McDonald’s on 20k and going to Burger King as a burger flipper for 7.50 an hour. You just wouldn’t. And he’s in his North West. He gains nothing from going there and undoes his work this season. Nuts.
And no, I really would jack in football if he left us like that. Burnley job, yes I could accept that. Top flight and all that. But not Ipswich job. Its a mark of how confident I am that I don’t believe he will go there that I made the statement.
We could be champions tonight and you plebs are debating this bollocks? Unreal.
24 April 2018 at 11:48 am #168501If he gets offered more money then maybe he will leave. Who knows? Personally I think he will stay.
Unofficially champions tonight.

That is something you don’t want?? Or do reckon you can get round her for Donny anyway?
With regards to his comments, they can be taken either way, as a parting shot or as a ‘get behind me’ to the new owners (caveat: if there is any). How you read it is your issue.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
