We were set up far too cautiously last night, and certainly didn’t look like a team battling for four straight wins.
Fortune as a lone forward was ineffective, the two wingers didn’t see enough of the ball, and Perch was surplus to requirements in midfield. Yes, we tried to play a passing game but it broke down every time went into their half, when suddenly we treated the ball like a hot potato. The only times we looked dangerous were when Maguire or Bong came charging out, or Chow showed some craft at the end.
Surely as most of the team will move on, this should be the time to see whether Chow, Cosgrove, Flores, Robles and Nicholls can cut it at this level. What’s to lose?
On last night’s showing, I’d keep Bong, Maguire, Pearce, Perch, Kim and literally no one else – including the manager.
16 April 2015 at 1:33 am #141325They might not want to play in div 1.So dont bank on them staying.Caldwell just a cheap option.though i would love to see him do well.
16 April 2015 at 1:42 am #141330William Kvist should surely be kept if he would stay.
I can’t see Maguire opting to move from Hull after his loan finishes.16 April 2015 at 2:00 am #141331How about a cheeky bid for Ojo. 50k and a set of rollers for their Marg.
16 April 2015 at 2:10 am #141334Or a season long loan, with free haircuts thrown in.
16 April 2015 at 2:17 am #141338With the purse strings the way they are at the moment I can’t see us spending 50p on a player.
There used be talk of war chests on here, it’s been replaced with a kids piggy bank now.Ojo can’t hack at this level so down with the cloggers he would be even less effective.
Grant Holt should be the top scorer in League one next season, but he won’t be allowed to stay because he’ll be on 50p per hour too much.
16 April 2015 at 2:20 am #141339Yes of course he is .once all the lonees go back its gonna be one ell of a job.
16 April 2015 at 3:08 pm #141353Grant Holt should be the top scorer in League one next season, but he won’t be allowed to stay because he’ll be on 50p per hour too much.More like £5000
17 April 2015 at 12:16 am #141375No Martin he’s not, but I’m not sure at this stage of the season and in our predicament that we could have done much better.
Hard to judge him after 2 games, but his team selections in 2 such big games have been massively disappointing.
Lots of people moaning about Waghorn’s behaviour at Millwall, but if Caldwell had bothered to try something new by actually starting him (either on his own or ideally with Fortune) then maybe wevwouldn’t have imploded the way we did and all but confirm the drop.
Team vs Brighton will be the one to watch. If Fortune starts on his own again I reckon my support for Gary and the little faith I have left in the leadership and management at the club will all but evaporate.
