I was told yesterday that Hugo’s disallowed goal just before his embarrassing miss was in fact a good goal – the header when he was put clean through. I haven’t seen SKY footage on the news about it, nor has anybody been up in arms about it (probably because there was no replay).
This person was saying that he was easily a yard or two on side, yet SKY didn’t mention it and it wasn’t mentioned in the press. Did anyone watch the game on TV and if so, what is your version?
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that

Until reading this now i had forgotten about it, as i watched it i didnt know what to make of it because panned straight to a full screen view of the the linesman straight away with his flag clearly up, when it went back to hugo his face was in shock and he was waving his finger from side to side as in a ‘no way was i offside expression’ – i think what happened then something happened in the restarted play and the cameras switched straight to this and as you say never went to a side view of the offside.
Its on i player at the moment i will take another look.
10 November 2011 at 6:27 pm #74083just looked at it on iplayer and to be honest you cant tell, but its very close, the linesmans flag goes up straight away and clive tyldley says “rodalegga is off side yet again”, his side kick ex wolves player don goodman says “I just wonder by how much and how far because he has no need to be off side as he found himself in between the two defenders” but i was wrong on what i thought before hugo didnt complain at all, but it never showed it from the side view as you said.
10 November 2011 at 6:43 pm #74087Goes to prove his point I guess, if it really is that close why not go back to it and highlight it?
There is no way the editors of SKY, BBC and countless other sports programmes would not have shown it 50 time had it been Rooney et al. But for there not to be even a mention of it is very strange to say the least.
I can’t really comment myself as I haven’t seen any footage of it, but it goes again with the ‘bad decisions change games’. Who knows if Hugo would have missed the second one had this goal stood…. we will never know now.

10 November 2011 at 6:50 pm #74091I watched the game live and I have to say I don’t remember thinking that it was a bad decision. I could be wrong though, there’s a first time for everything.
10 November 2011 at 7:05 pm #74093You could then say that if Stephen Hunt had been dishonest he could have gone down when Al Habsi seemed to clip him for a certain penalty possible red card.
We deserved to lose that game. No excuses, our defending was terrible and our finishing was useless. Even the penalty was crap!
10 November 2011 at 7:28 pm #74095If I remember the incident correctly I remember thinking at the time that he was offside
And as a qualified level 4 referee I’m never wrong on these matters11 November 2011 at 1:08 am #74143We all thought offside at the time and I even shouted some expletives at Hugo for being offside yet again !! I am a darksider though who doesn’t rate him and my reservations were far from unfounded moments later !!
