…we went into a game with such a strong squad and giving Paul Cook some real selection problems…good problems however. Is it a problem? No. Options, and different ways to go.

Have to pay full respect and dues here to Paul Cook ane his staff, notably Chris Brass for their busy work in bringing these players in, and hopefully we will have another coming in with Kieffer Moor3 as well. And maybe Daniel Johnson, too.

Also have to pay credit to Darren Royle and the owners IEC for backing these transfers and putting up the funds. Most of us did feel we needed to bring a good few players in. It took some time to get going, but we have got our main target and others besides. We can’t complain.

Can’t wait for this afternoon now.

Agree fully with that, but we also need to understand that a) It may take a good few weeks for the players to settle in and b) Cardiff have still got their premier league squad plus a few more expensive signings.
It will be a tough game today so let’s not get too down hearted if we don’t get the result we are all desperate to see.
Good luck to PC and team!

          Yes, I agree.

I looked at their squad yesterday and although it doesnt strike too much fear into me, you can guarantee they will be very well drilled and set up by Neil Warnock. They beat a Spanish side a week or two ago, so will be a tough game.

I heard last night that their new striker from Germany is out of todays game. Thats a bonus. Joe Ralls is a player of theres who I rate, in midfield.

Spot on with everything both Vat & JR have posted. I like your point JR about the new players needing time to gel etc, & I seriously hope the fans give the new boys a chance, & not getting on their backs the moment a pass goes astray or a missed sitter for example.

I’m impressed with how much the owners have spent on these players, without spending silly amounts. As Vat mentioned, we now seem to have depth within the squad this season & competition for places giving cook both A a good headache, & B the options to try a plan B when things aren’t working.

With Moore hopefully on his way (subject to passing his medical), I still feel we need at least 1 more CB & CM (Johnson) then that should be job & squad complete.

Time to gel is pre season. Everyone was getting excited with last year’s squad on the eve of the season. So you’re right we may have to be a little patient as most of our newcomers have had no gelling time and missed out on the valuable warm weather training abroad. Also it may take time for a few of these players to acclimatise to playing at an higher level and get used to playing in a different system than they are used to. On paper it looks like we could be back to how Cook liked to play football in the promotion season. Fingers crossed there is no Hamstring infestation going around this time. Great to see options at the right and left of midfield and hopefully if Moore arrives options up front. Not sure who can play behind the striker yet. May be a good move to start Audrey there with Pilky or Jacobs on left and Massey or Lowe on the right. Hope we see some good wing play or some great runs from the wing backs. All these options. Let’s go for it this season and cause a major upset. That’s what we do best.
