..that if you are critical of the team when they underachieve or dare to question the managers tactics, you are not allowed to be happy when they get it together and put in a great performance like yesterday’s. I find it very strange how the Lightside have turned on the Darkside for celebrating a great victory ? Trawling through old posts in a pathetic attempt to try and put a damper on what was a great day is pretty sad in my book. The self righteous should stay in their ivory towers if they aint interested in celebrating as one because I get the impression that whatever the Darkside say whether it be positive or negative certain Lightsiders quite simply just have it in for them for daring to have opinions ! Unbelievable the amount of abuse flying about on here at the moment when we should be uniting as one and looking forward to the draw later on. :S
To be fair to you Phil you take a lot of stick on here but you gave credit when it was due at the end of last season and although some times you talk some utter… I mean have differing opinions to myself you’re not the worst on here by a far shout.
Brownbob takes the biscuit this year for me with his ” If we stay up it will be spite him not because of him”
I suppose if little Wigan finds itself in Europe <- Mental talk
That will be spite him too and his team selections in the cup.
Credit where credit is due he has given a handful of youngsters a chance to shine and they have got us this far and no he is not too stubborn to put more senior players in the further we have progressed.
If someone had of offered me a trip to Wembley and avoiding relegation at the start of the season I would of snatched their hands off.
To think I could be flying out to f*ck knows where next season to see my team play in the Europa league well its just crazy ( I know I am well ahead of myself but we are so close I can taste it).

Phil, I can’t speak for the “Lightside” and can only enlighten you as to my own viewpoint and why you wind me up so much. I have long since learned that supporting MY home-town team means having to suffer days when the pain can be excruciatingly bad. Black days when we appear to have no purpose, direction, or future and days when things are so bad that you wonder whether it is worth the effort.
We all feel the same pain and disappointment as you do when things go wrong but suffer in silence knowing that the manager, team and owner tried their best but came up short. There is no point singling out players and screaming at them how garbage they are when they have given their all and know better than we do that they could have played better. It winds me up to hear vitriolic criticism of Roberto’s tactics when it is quite clear that the critic thinks that tactics are little white mints in a clear plastic box.
We are fortunate to have an owner like Dave Whelan and a Manager like Roberto Martinez who really care about Wigan and it’s football club. We have had more success than we could ever have dreamed of and it hurts me deeply to hear the garbage espoused by some “fans” when WE are having a bad time of it.
I was always taught that you could judge a man’s character by how he reacts to defeat and not how he celebrates victories. If you can’t accept the pain then please forgive me for trying to urinate on your victory celebrations.

Take a bow, that man!
One problem with having such a good result and all this talk of european football is, the darkside will now be getting their faith back, all to be vented on here come our next crushing defeat. Try to keep the faith a little more Phil. Either that, or go visit a lower league club that really is up the creak and get some perspective of our situation.
Owd Git – you have summed up in one post what I gave been trying to get people to understand for years!!
Not having a go at Phil, because he’s actually alright for a self-confessed football know-nowt, but there are far too many people who clearly have no idea what supporting a club means but think that those of us who suffer in silence, as you put it, are thick, blind, dumb muppets – as in think one other gobshite poster put it earlier today.

Best post on here for weeks, maybe all season.

Can I just say that I have NEVER screamed at any players or spouted any vitriol towards the manager, I have criticised certain players for lack of effort and/or talent but hey not everyone is the same are they ! If we all suffered in silence there wouldn’t be very much on this forum from one week to the next would there !I will admit and some already know me that quite a few of my posts are deliberate wind ups and I have discussed my catches with some of the lads who go in the Brick. As for character, I am the first to admit that I hate losing at anything and although I have always been magnanimous when I have personally lost at something, deep down I hate losing ! The football fan side of me is slightly different and to be honest if we lose it most certainly does not effect my life in any way whatsoever ! If anyone actually really does sit near me on match days they would know that I am constantly making jokes and generally having the crack. They would know that I very rarely leave the ground before the end but I do move up to the exit nearing the end of games for a quick getaway and they would know that I have NEVER shouted or aimed any vitriol at any player or manager although I did shout to Stevie Gerrard once that he was going to get bummed in the showers but I had drank half a bottle of whiskey before that incident ! I am not a multi but I do wind folk up its the way I am and sometimes on here it is like taking candy from a baby ! Have a great week chaps because I will !

Changing allegiances ? Meltdown ? Not me ! Don’t get your singing reference ?
We do talk about things that have been said on here, what is wrong with that ? I do have a badge with my avatar on it that I wear though !
Nothing wrong with correcting a few false comments either in my book but at the end of the day most posts on here are a wind up anyway, I should know ! I’ll be there on Sunday as I cant let my fans down now can I ! I guess being a big hitter on here can have its draw backs but I wouldn’t change it for the World ! See ya Sunday brethren !
