30 September 2013 at 5:06 pm #121672Nigel Clough has been managing in a different economy to his father. His job has been to cut costs. He has assembled a team of young players, but has not been allowed to finish the job.
Owen Coyle, on the other hand, has been given money to spend. Whether it has all been spent wisely, we have yet to see. The indications are that the defenders have been better value than the forwards.

It was a statement of fact, not a complete disagreement.A full survey prior to my post wasn’t practical.
30 September 2013 at 6:15 pm #121676Most football fans – me included – think that they know better than the manager of the team they support. As Sky TV and talksport demonstrate, you can fill hours of broadcasting with debate, and still reach no clear conclusion.
Nigel’s time at Derby was by no means a failure. I think that poor home form has cost Nigel his job. They have already won away from home three times this season; at Brighton (2-1), Yeovil (3-0) and Millwall (5-1). But most Derby fans will not have been there to witness these successes.
Many more managers would be at risk of the sack if they had to get better results, both financially and on the field, than Nigel Clough.
