Sadly there will be some people overtly racist in most football crowds, Latics included, with them being broadly representative of society as a whole. I have no idea whether the culprit was positively identified , or if he or she was…..whether there was clear evidence to convict him/her, surely it ought to have been a police matter anyway rather than simply a club issue

It was the police that banned him. Not Sunderland FC.
