Looks highly likely we’re going to borrow him off Newcastle. Well at least that’s cover for Will but he is hardly a prolific goalscorer. Seems to me that the Bogle affair is nothing more than trying to cash in on an asset. The asset being that he is a prolific goalscorer.
Still waiting for the exciting signings that are meant to be arriving this week. Anyone heard any rumours yet?2 August 2017 at 10:54 pm #160932Define exciting signings given the budget we have available
2 August 2017 at 11:04 pm #160935T
his should be explained by Paul Cook who earlier this week promised us that there would be some exciting arrivals.
I would however describe a player arriving such as Bogle exciting or an experienced keeper like Jussi quite exciting.
I am aware of budgets after all that’s why Bogle and Power are going isn’t it.2 August 2017 at 11:12 pm #160936So a bottom tier centre forward and an ancient keeper would have made you happy?
2 August 2017 at 11:21 pm #160937Ivan’s reaction when he was told he was heading to Wigan for a full 12 months;-
Wigan Official Statement: Confirms signing of Newcastle’s Ivan Toney
2 August 2017 at 11:41 pm #160939So a bottom tier centre forward and an ancient keeper would have made you happy?Don’t be daft, you should know by now nothing makes the miserable fecker happy.
If we bought Neymar for £198M he would still moan and insist we should have got Messi as well to play up front with him.2 August 2017 at 11:48 pm #160940If we do get this deal over the line, I think in terms of comparison with Bogle, it is an exiting deal. Scored a few at Scunny and watching some of his goals has a great leap. On 2-3 of them he actually out jumped the keeper to the ball.
The other exciting deal is the left back from Leicester, a fantastic signing for the league we are in.
Don’t start getting above your stations boys, we are a league one club and the cloth should and will be cut accordingly. If we do get back into the championship at the first attempt again, we can take stock and look to push on. Sharpy will have learned his lesson from last season in terms of the extra quality needed to be competitive in the second tier.
Paul Cook seems to be a shrewd manager who is not frightened of taking drastic action when needed. So the school report to date in my opinion looks very encouraging.I know some posters have been critical of Cook’s pre-season, can’t remember who said it but they moaned because we weren’t beating the likes of Southport, Notts County and Grimsby by 5 or 6. Irrespective of their opponents last night, they scored 14, what a great way to prepare for the opening game. :cheer:
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!3 August 2017 at 12:11 am #160941The lad is now officially on loan to the end of the season. :cheer:

What a journey!3 August 2017 at 12:14 am #160942These 3 loan signings, are very good additions.
I still think we maybe need another keeper, Scott Flinders in available free, I’d maybe have a look at him, just for a back up experienced keeper.
I’m looking forward to the season starting.

So what do you base these players been “very good additions” on ?.
I’ll make judgement based on,
If they actually get played,
Their contribution to the game,
We’re we are in the league heading up to the Christmas period.
I’ll praise them If they do well but I won’t be a happy clapper like some die hard-ons if we look like the team of last year3 August 2017 at 2:05 am #160948These 3 loan signings, are very good additions.

What do I Base the fact that they are very good additions on?
Because as I have posted on another thread, the depth of which I cannot be bothered repeating in full here, ALL THREE have had plenty of experience at either Championship, or league one/league 2 levels. Evans, for example, played 35 games for Bradford a couple of seasons back. Good enough for Bradford, good enough for us.Ivan Toney has had loan experience last season and did very well at this level.
These are loan signings that make sense, rather than the likes of Callum Connolly or James Weir…youth players with hardly any actual league experience. These 3, to say they are youngsters, have had enough experience to regard them as solid professionals.
3 good signings. Some of you will never be happy.
6 August 2017 at 12:54 am #161047It looks like Toney is indeed a good signing and I think he’ll do well for us. Nothing special from him today but he worked hard and kept the two MK Dons centre backs busy.
