No…………….it was a lovely saturday in 1971!If you were a true Latics fan, you would know we didn’t play Goole in 1971.
They had been relegated the previous season to the South Humberside Division 1 for financial irregularities regarding payments made to an agent of a foreign cleaner who was employed at the home of the then Chairman.It was big news in Goole at the time. They did however recover and got promoted the following season.
You must be therefore getting mixed up with your years as we played them on a beautiful sunny saturday in 1973.Geoff Davies and Jim Fleming got a brace a peice, and all four goals were supplied by a wind assisted punt up field by keeper Dennis Reeves.
There were 63 Latics fans present in a gate 126.
Those were the days eh!

Another 10 haven’t been seen at a game since, but regularly post on message boards reminding people they were at that game. ;)
