I forgot to mention this after the Villa game, heard that Byrne had spat his dummy and left the stadium in a huff after finding out he wasn’t to play.
Apparently he had begged Barrow to let him feature as his International career relied upon him getting games under his belt.

26 March 2017 at 12:15 am #157260Jack who?
26 March 2017 at 1:37 pm #157269I really don’t get this.
I genuinely think this is a great young player, and possibly the best of Joyce’s signings. He impressed me when he came with Blackburn, and he looked to have a touch of the Paul Scholes about his play. A playmaker who could dictate play and make a difference. He must be a decent player, as it was City that recalled him from his short loan spell at Blackburn.
When we signed him on a 3 year deal, I was made up and excited at the prospect. I saw him as a welcome addition and imagined him coming in and playing a role similar to what Jonjo Shelvey did against us, for Newcastle. I figured this could potentially be a move that kept us up. I’m not sure what Joyce was playing at, by not even having him on the bench. Honestly, this lad could’ve offered us something.
So why has he never played? I don’t get it at all. I see a central midfield of Macdonald, Morsy and Byrne for next season and I believe this will give us a very capable mix of solidness, guile and creativity.
26 March 2017 at 2:34 pm #157275Maybe he is not fit yet. He hasn’t played a first team game since around August or September. Maybe he had an injury at Blackburn.
All a bit strange but not as strange as most of the January collection.26 March 2017 at 4:12 pm #157277Maybe he is not fit yet. He hasn’t played a first team game since around August or September. Maybe he had an injury at Blackburn.
All a bit strange but not as strange as most of the January collection.Fair comment, but just how unfit can a 20 year old professional footballer be?
Bit strange.

Joyce did say that Colcloughs’ fitness levels were laughable, he didn’t seem that unfit to me when he came on against Villa.
