The key problem with JJB was its fundamental business model which has been failing for about 10 years. In a dominant position in the market they tried to become the seller of all sportware, as well as fashion and specialist sports gear. This failed and they then started to build a business modelk on items such as England shirts and success of the national team, which also failed.
In the last year or so they finally bailed out of the fashion shoe market and tried to become a dedicated sports retailer, which again failed.
I do feel sorry for the people effected, but the management have had their heads up their *ss for a good few years. I actually went there for an interview and turned them down, their arrogance was astonishing.
Chairman Dave jumped ship at the right time.
