Franco still had an earring in so he made him leave the field to take it out. The rules apparently state that you can only let someone back on the field after an infringement of the rules, when the ball goes out of play. :woohoo:
Perhaps George could clear that one up for us.
I recorded the match and niall quinn said he took it out while he was walking off and was complaining he never had one in, in the first place, I like everyone else on the ground was screaming abuse at the ref but he was right and di santo was trying to take the piss, which nearly cost us a second goal and should cost him 2 weeks wages.
If you look on bbc live coverage it says ref got it wrong and he didnt have one in. Did it take him an hour to realise? Mind you. We had the ball four times while he was waiting and chose to play on!
“A player must not ..wear any equipment that is dangerous to himself or another player (including any kind of jewellery)……..
In the event of an infringement of this Law….the player is only permitted to re-enter the field of play when the ball is out of play”.
So, although I was hurling abuse at him about this, and he got lots of other things wrong, he was actually correct in this instance.
you and me both
talking point on MOTD tonight or just the usual ‘and last but no means least Wigan (2 mins duration)’; actually, MOTD will probably have it as ‘highlight’ of the match ?
I recall how the warming up and substitution (entering the field of play) of C Adam (new signing)was a MOTD highlight at the Stoke game.
Overall standard of these new refs is terrible. Theres that Jones, that donkey we had today and that slaphead ( not red Webb ) who are all competing for shyster of the year.
Cant get my head round why he turned that first handball down..the young lad moved both hands up and away from his body and was struck by the ball..only explanation can be that the poor dear bottled it.
Any one of our players would have been sent off for a tackle similar the what Wiltshire made on Maloney
We wouldn’t of got the penalty that they did
And they would of got one if not both of the handball incidents had they been done by one of our players
Didn’t John moss have a dancing school in Wigan? Round about the same era they had the ‘world disco dancing championship’ live from Doncaster? Or did I just have a bad dream.
