Bit strange with Johnston ,I am sure if Leam Richardson really wanted him he would have signed him.He must think we have a better option in Whatmough ,he has worked with him before so he knows what we are getting.I think Lee Evans is a quality footballer and his contribution at the end of the season helped to keep us up ,however ,he has spent a large chunk of his time here out injured ,he might have been unlucky and will go on to be an ever present at Ipswich next season ,but somehow I don’t think he will. Bottom line ,I rate them both highly but you can understand why they have both gone to other clubs. We have replaced Johnston it’s going to be difficult ,at our level ,to find a replacement with the quality of Evans.Let’s see what happens in the next few weeks !

Evans is a decent player but quality? na not for me. We need a change, new owners new players a fresh start.

We need a ferret in the middle all action someone to chase everything and helping the defence out.

After seeing our opposition I cannot see why we shouldn’t aim for at least a play-off spot

At Division 1 level I think Evans is quality and whilst I agree with you we need an all action ferret in the middle we also need someone who can unlock defences with a quality pass or free kick.Hopefully Leam Richardson has someone lined up.I think next season is all about transition I would be more than happy with a top half finish ,play offs would be brilliant.

What is David Perkins doing these days?

Some may laugh but it’s a Perkins / Barry Bannan type player we need as well. Evans was decent but I wouldn’t go as far as calling him quality.

He just has to be able to keep things moving like a link pin between defence/attack.
He doesn’t need to be an Iniesta just a ball player.

Richardson will have his work cut out this season. Had we have gone down last season no one would have pointed the finger but this season will be different it will be players He has chosen rather than been given.
Some of the young lads need to be thrown in for me. Div1 is hardly the Prem

Some of the young lads will get another go. Lang and Robinson for sure.

I think Chris Merrie will easily fill any gap left by Lee Evans.
Lee has great technique and we know he has a shot on him, but, he was the player I growled at most last season for casually giving the ball away and putting us in trouble.

I don’t think we’ll miss Johnston either although Bolton are weirdly ecstatic about landing him.

Could Scott Fraser be the replacement for Evans ? ,attacking midfielder ,looks ‘decent’ although if the MK Dons forum is to be believed our bid is just the opening bid ,they think he will go to a ‘bigger’ club ?.

The old “any club is bigger than Wigan” myth that other clubs supporters love to come out with.
Look around League One, there is no club in it as ‘big’ as Latics. By big, I mean what a club has achieved over the last 15-20 years. And that includes Sunderland, who apart from a massive fan-base, haven’t much else to them. Similarly Portsmouth as well.
We dont yet know our selling point to potential signings. We may have the ability to offer good contracts to players…that seems to have been the case with Whatmough. Portsmouth, his home town club who he had been with for 13 years, couldn’t better what we offered. A statement of intent, perhaps.

                      Exciting times.

Here he is. I thought the club was a goner and was dead vat? I didnt think you cared anymore as the club you knew had gone? I thought you were now a Skem Utd or AFC Wigan fan?

Or was it all just more bullshit?

It’s no surprise Grigg got goals at MK he was fed. I wonder if Fraser+Grigg Richardson thought pattern and they might get us 25-30 goal between them ?, we’ll see

If you want someone who is superb at pointing where he intends to pass the ball, then Max Power is available.

Won the league twice at this level has Max. Would be a good signing, but I think he probably deserves a move to a big club.

I’m gutted to see Chris Merrie leaving so I take it all back about him replacing Lee Evans.

Have we got bigger signings in mind?
