forgive me to have a pop but i really cant understand were he is supposed to be playing? is he our playmaker, supporting striker or what , seems to be floating around doing nothing, which leaves us virtually playing with 10 men. we need someone like bullard who always wants the ball and isnt scared to try different things. rodallaga is having to come back to get the ball as we have no link between defence and attack, well thats how it looks to me……. come on gomez dont be scared and want the ball
Gomez is awful no pace easily pushed off the ball all he does is pass it sideways. I know we were playing a good side today but at no point did we compete with Arsenal. It was too easy no protection for the back four atall.
I don’t think he will drop him because he was the first one he signed. But surely its not doing the lad any good keep playing. I think Martinez has 5 more games and if there isn’t a improvrement serious questions need to be asked.
To have a player like him in your side, and to play the style we want to play (Or rather, Roberto wants to play) the first port of call has to be a solid defence.
And frankly, it is nothing of the sort. It is like a collander, in fact.
To have so many attack minded players in a line up, such as Rodallega, Koumas, N’Zogbia, and Scotland if he comes on, who aren’t going to contribute much to the defence, you really need to be rock solid at the back. Then in midfield we have Diame and Thomas who I think are alright.
But at the back, we have Figueroa who is all over the place (and quite frankly, if Bruce comes waving silly money in Jan, I hope we snatch his hand off. Edman is a better player. No question.) Melchiot, who is getting past it, and central defenders who are so hit and miss.We CANNOT keep playing this style of football, with the defence we have got. Bruce’s direct tactics and different formation worked with the defence we have. Roberto’s, I’m sorry to say, don’t.

He is slow easily pushed off can’t tackle can’t head a ball does not look like a play maker as Bob said he would.
I have a question for all the Gomez fans what exactly does he contribute to the team?
