Just come good today? Total garbage. The only difference today was that only about 50% instead of 90% of the usual numb nuts got on his back.
Amen to that.
However, like Horc, I too have been a critic in the past, but I have never booed him….(or any other player now I think of it) and was suitably impressed with him yesterday. He is, after all, a young lad and a large part of his game will be his confidence – yesterday will have been a great lift for him.
His game play was much better, he was lively, and he was making those ‘defence splitting’ passes when it was obvious that McCarthy had parked his bus looking for the one point.
Full credit to the young lad for not losing his bottle after ‘that’ tackle (which I firmly believe is all part of McCarthy’s team talk) and getting on with it……….
…………he won quite a few over yesterday. Let’s hope he can keep it up.

He’s always been able to do that. The major difference yesterday (and also against Hartlepool & Preston) was that he had runners making moves into the space for him to pass to. Makes him look good as opposed to slow and daudling on the ball and losing possession or having to pass backwards.
I also think the latter has been due to a lack of a shout when he’s had a man on his back as yesterday on a couple of occasions, when he was made aware of a man on, he managed to work his way out of it.
Not saying he’s the best thing in the world but he’s certainly far better than the boo boys give him any credit for. The only worry for me now is that the boo boys have shown their true colours and will carry on for fear of having to eat humble pie. Let’s hope not.
Gomez’s weakness is that he is too slow on the ball and consequently gets caught in possession too much. His strength is that he has the capability of playing that killer pass which the rest of our mid-field players do not. He’s also by far and away the best at free kicks.
Its not being fickle it called giving credit where credit is due.
If in the next match everyone slags him off again for not scoring a wonder goal, or doing a few wayward passes then you could call them fickle.

I think you’ll find the likes of Gareth Barry and Scott Parker are not blessed with pace, but are amongst the top ranking midfielders in the prem. You don’t need pace if you are clever on and off the ball. I’ve said to my mate from day one that Gomez will come good.
I can see a nice balance developing in our midfield and Gomez should be in their on a regular basis.
James MaCarthy brings pace, enthusiasm and a willingness to cover more ground than Jimmy B used to do.
Momo is the flair player with a mixture of confidence and often showmanship when in possession, but can track back and get his foot in when needed. The boy is still learning and being left out on Saturday probably did him a world of good. He has got caught out a few times this season in vulnerable areas just outside our box, this need eradicating from his game.
Hendry Thomas is a typical holding midfielder who brings absolute jacks_hit going forward, but is a Paul Rogers type spoiler that every team needs. I would still like to see Tom Cleverley in the MaCarthy role and let Macca do more of a Thomas role but with a willingness to get forward when needed.
My opinion for what its worth is “its getting there” :|

if hes not playing week in week out how do you expect him to get up to speed of the prem when his level as been the championship,i was told something last season from a very good source its not just a case of signing a player its how quick he bonds with his team mates and settles in and some players were makeing it difficult for gomez and scotland, the trouble makers have gone now and bob is been proven right in what he sees in gomez
