Another result gone against us.
5 January 2012 at 2:13 am #76966Exactly !
We messed up big style, last neet; and now we feel even worse without even playing !
Just can’t see us getting out of this mess. The Premiership dream that has become a nigthmare will soon be over.5 January 2012 at 2:16 am #76967Forgot to add: do you think the inevitable will happen on Saturday ?
5 January 2012 at 2:22 am #76969Forgot to add: do you think the inevitable will happen on Saturday ?The inevitable will always happen, regardless of what day it is – by definition.
My wife used to say that all the time: “Well, if the inevitable happens…”.
“Er… no love, the inevitable WILL happen, that’s the point of it being inevitable”
You’re not my wife are you, Lostock? She’s been awfully quiet this last half an hour.
5 January 2012 at 2:36 am #76973In the build up to the Sunderland game most on here were talking about a win putting us back in the mix, onwards and upwards. We lose the game, Bolton win a game, go a massive one point clear of us and now we are certs to go down.
Having seen every Prem team now the season is entering its second half, I have seen a lot more than 3 teams who are worse than us, one being Sunderland last night. Owd purple nose SAF has always said that things start getting serious at the top end of the prem round about easter time. The same can be said about the bottom. Norwich and Swansea are around 5 points worse off than Blackpool was this time last season.Nuff said! ;)
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!5 January 2012 at 4:33 am #76981We are two point from safety. Had Bolton lost tonight, we’d be two points from safety.
We are still in the bottom three, and tonight’s result matters not, other than to make the league table look a little less pretty.

I agree
Swansea have 23 points and sit in 12th position. Nothing is certain – it never has been.
This, at the time (look at ManU and Everton tonight) is still a tight league. To quote ‘Commander Sam Shore’
“Anything can happen in the next half season”
or was that hour….whatever! ;)

We may even see a Tempest enter the Marina
8 January 2012 at 2:08 am #77393Forgot to add: do you think the inevitable will happen on Saturday ?Wish I’d listened to you and didn’t make the flookin effort to go to the game. There was a time when the third round was special to the Latics and every Latics Mon would crawl over broken glass to get there, and be proud to be there. The club has destroyed that feeling of loyalty within the fans.

Indeed ,when in the lower leagues couldn’t wait for the third round draw if we got there that is now just seems like a pain in the ass most Wiganers have fecked it off since we got into the Prem as shown by the attendences in previous years

At one time the smaller clubs would be jumping for joy having drawn the likes of Man U or Chelsea. Now-days if the minnows draw a big name all they see is a bunch of young kids with the odd fringe player and the odd first teamer coming back from injury.
It’s exactly what happened today at Swindon and will continue to happen. I remember going to Stoke in the 3rd round of the FA cup on a freezing January day during Jewell’s reign and was gutted to find the names Roberts and Ellington missing from the Wigan line up with a few other first teamers.
We lost 2-0 I think and it stopped a good run of victories.
