Heard a few rumours that Kirkland will be going to Leicester on loan. If this is the case i dont see the point in it as Pollitt is currently injured and Lee Nicholls is on loan at Hartlepool so that leaves us with only one keeper who is only on loan at the moment.
23 November 2010 at 1:01 pm #51498Pollitt was on the bench on Saturday, although it is quite mad that last year we had 5 keepers at one point….
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
23 November 2010 at 1:31 pm #51500I didnt realise that. Was Kirkland not on the bench then?
23 November 2010 at 3:59 pm #51511I didnt realise that. Was Kirkland not on the bench then? No. Definitely Pollitt
23 November 2010 at 4:26 pm #51514Yeah I just heard that Kirkland was out with the flu
23 November 2010 at 6:50 pm #51522Am sure there is an obvious joke about not being able to catch the Flu……
23 November 2010 at 8:02 pm #51531Am sure there is an obvious joke about not being able to catch the Flu……Im not even going to waste time thinking of a joke, I will just come oput with it.. He is USELESS. Can go to Leicester and stay there. Fingers crossed.
23 November 2010 at 9:35 pm #51540Don’t forget all this can only happen in January and we are still in November. I think there will be two key factors in the decision of whether CK stays or goes;
1) We manage to secure Ali either on a permanent deal or at least guaranteed to the end of season.[he does have a recall clause in his loan deal]
2) We also get a replacement goalie either loan or permanent, who is a decent keeper, but will be satisfied by bench warming for a bit. There are many decent keepers in the championship that fit this bill.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!24 November 2010 at 3:38 pm #51564Can championship clubs not sign players on loan outside of the window? I thought that was the case?
24 November 2010 at 4:07 pm #51568Championship clubs can still sign players on loan until end of tomorrow.

As others have pointed out Kirkland can move out on loan to any championship club until the close of play tomorrow
Also, Ali is on a loan until the end of the season. Yes Bolton have a recall clause (which its worth noting they didn’t activate whilst Jussi was injured earlier in the season) but Latics have also put a 24 hour recall clause in on the Kirkland deal so if Al Habsi goes back to Bolton, Kirkland comes back to us
Don’t think we need to get anyone in to act as back up. Pollitt is there if Al Habsi was to get injured mid-match & Kirkland can be recalled if its a longer term injuryKirkland wants to be playing. Latics need a keeper with match practice if Al Habsi gets injured or his form suffers so its a win win situation for me
As for Kirkland himself & in response to JamesC’s post – I think Kirkland is a beltin keeper but he needs it coaching from him & in turn a keeping coach who knows how to get the best out of him.
Under Paul Jewell/Gary Walsh I thought he was iffy at times but under Steve Bruce/Nigel Spink I thought he was immense & his positon in the player of the year polls during that indicate I aint the only one who thinks that. Under Bobby & this Spanish goalkeeping coach his form has dipped again24 November 2010 at 7:27 pm #51572No matter what his current situation is, Kirkland has been a hero so we need to give his due.
I’m not sure that coaching is the issue, what looks evident to me in the first 2 games was his lack of mobility. When he was running for or with the ball he looked stiff, awkward and in pain.
When you have to jump, dive and run like he has to, it must limit him and that’s where i think the problem lies. Smacks to me that his back is no longer up to it.
If he doesn’t come back to us, then we should at least thank him for his previous efforts and good luck.
25 November 2010 at 12:48 am #51574Tyldesley when you say ” As others have pointed out Kirkland can move out on loan to any championship club until the close of play tomorrow ”
Which close of play is that then ? The cricket ? ;)25 November 2010 at 2:14 am #51581If he doesn’t come back to us, then we should at least thank him for his previous efforts and good luck. I agree! :D
25 November 2010 at 3:09 am #51583Not a patch on Roy Tunks ,our best ever goalie ;)
