Well, it has been a long time coming, seeing as the bookies virtually shut the book with him as 1/6 favourite to be the next manager.
But here he is, Kolo Toure… ex Man City and Arsenal defender, who has shadowed Brendan Rodgers at Leicester for the last few seasons as assistant manager, plus the Ivory Coast job.
What will he bring to Wigan Athletic? I am not sure, but he is certainly the first guy filling the position that has cited us as a big club in his opening statement.
I still can’t get me ed round Leam’s sacking, just doesn’t make sense. So good luck to Kolo, but you have a lot a fans who are like me, bitter about Leam going. Best way to shut us up is by winning the league :)

Uwe Rosler said we were a big club also in his first press conference from memory .
Massive gamble ,hope he is given the funds in the transfer window. For whatever reason Leam was not given any money in the summer and he paid the ultimate price.
I’m not sure why he’s such a gamble. He played at the very highest level under some world class managers. He’s been coaching at far bigger clubs under some top notch managers.
To those who’s comparing Toure to Joyce ??? FFS get real. Joyce didn’t play the game at a the highest level and at a top club.
My only concerns are, the costs of the compensation package and not just for him. Then there’s his wages, I’m sure he’ll be right up there with Company at Burnley as one of the top earners in the Championship.
Yes we have to move on and trust our new owners but could it all be abit too much too soon cost wise considering we need to bring in some fresh players asap 2-3 quality players.
I read an article a while back with quotes from some of the Leicester players saying Kolo Toure put on some very good training sessions with new ideas and twists on some older methods. Players said they enjoyed the sessions.
Let’s get right behind him 100% and I hope our board get right behind him in Jan otherwise Kolo might find this job 1 step to far. A good appointment?, Like every manager that’s every done the job, at the end of the day you will be judged on results not performances.
I personally think he’ll get us out the sh1t and we’ll stay up comfortably something I never felt with Richardson

Just because you have played at the highest level does not mean you are going to be a great Manager , ask Stephen Gerrard , Bobby Charlton and many others . No doubt Leam Richardson put on some great training sessions as a coach but as you liked to tell us on many occasions it did not make him a great Manager .It is a risky appointment but I really hope he is a success ,to do that he will need the full backing of the board in the January window, something Leam Richardson was not given in the summer.
