It’s been quite a while now since we moved across to this new format. I personally think it’s quite good, now I’ve got used to it. But one thing it lacks, compared to the old forum, is a swear filter. It used to be possible to filter out swear words and replace them with “elephant” or whatever. It was even possible with a bit of childish humour (which nevertheless still made me laugh) to filter words about that other game.
I have noticed however that the levels of language on here, at times and by only a few posters, at times reach a very low level. I think that some posters forget in the heat of what appears to be a one-to-one discussion with someone else that they are not actually doing the equivalent of texting each other, but are stood in the middle of Asda shouting so anyone can hear.
We don’t know the ages or background or anything about people who view this board, and you don’t need to be registered to read posts. So – can we please moderate language in future? You can disagree as much as you wish with someone else’s view – in fact that’s what forums like this are for. But do it in language that is acceptable to all ages etc.
I know some will say that this is a football site, and you hear as much at matches. Well, actually, I find you don’t. In the stands are families with little kids, elderly couples, all sorts. Someone persistently using the language that occasionally is used on here would soon be put in their place. And remember too, that the odd invective muttered when Gomez misplaces a pass or Di Santo launches the ball into lunar orbit is gone in a second. Posts on here stay for ever and can be read by anyone.
I’m no prude or angel myself. If someone cuts me up on the road I have a vocabulary that would, as my long departed granny would say, “could make a navvy blush”. But I’ve never needed to use it here.
Thanks you for reading.

there is no such thing as bad language, only bad use of good language
