Against Everton, Stoke and Bolton – 3 very winnable games

Total Points = 2 – very very disappointing
Total number of goals = 1 – not good enough

Conclusion – hoof ball or the beautiful game we have no quality

Before I get a hammering – on a positive note we are now 3 games unbeaten !!

Only saw the extended highlights on Sky, but last night was a pish poor game played between 2 pish poor sides

      Absolutely dire

but we have a platform we can build upon for a grandstand big finish. Chelsea must be cacking themselves

The only platform that he can possibly claim from last night is that we didn’t concede & haven’t been conceding many recently which I guess is a start

That said, a team with better finishers than Bolton would have put at least 3 past Latics last night whereas (N’Zogbia’s effort that hit the post apart) all our attacks just seemd to fizzle out without anyone having a serious attempt at goal

That’s very true. I actually thought that we were marginally the better of two teams playing very poorly last night (and I think the pitch has to take some blame) yet, on clear cut chances, we could not have complained had we lost 4-1.

The worrying thing though, is that they very nearly nicked a goal, on 2 or 3 occasions. As for us, we huffed, puffed, and generally looked more menacing when ‘Scocklund’ and Moses came on, but once again we lack the ability in the final third to create clear opportunities, such as a decent ‘hard and low’ cross across the box for someone to slide in.

We’ve lacked that all season. At times we do some decent passing, but then we have nothing at the end of it. It is no wonder we don’t score a lot, because our final ball into the danger area is not there.

I went home with a genuine feeling of being happy to take the point, considering how close they came to nicking a goal. if we could manage to beat Tottenham, it would be a very good point indeed. But let’s be honest, we’d take a point from Sunday now, if we could. (Well, I would. What? after the 9-1 at their place? definitely)

It just wasn’t good enough last night. it was a must win game. out of the 2 teams bolton seemed to want it more without really threatening.
something i noticed last night and haven’t done before, when we had a corner we would have 3 men marking Elmander (Why, he’s cack) and when they had a corner we had every player in the 18 yard box with no outlet if we cleared. I know i am not a premier league manager but i would have at least 1 player outside the box just in case we break away.
I also get frustrated with Martinez always saying that we are improving. The rate we are supposedly improving we will be relegated before it comes to fruition. I don’t know how we can be improving when we scored in the last game but never in this game and we still wouldn’t have scored if we played till next week.
Has anyone else noticed that we play the same way that Martinez used to play for us. Pass Across, Back, Across, Back and then lose possesion.
On a positive Moses looked good when he came on, least he will take people on, we should be putting Hugo up front and Moses on the left for the next game. N’zogbia was class again tonight, you can see that he is getting frustrated with the woefulness of some of our players. Lets hope we can get a win against spurs or else were in even more trouble.

I’m wondering if Roberto gets his tactics from Dear Diedre, i’ve read her suggestions for couples who’s relationships have gone a bit stale (while reading the paper, no other reason)in the bedroom, what she suggests is that you have as much foreplay as you can, under no circumstances though must you touch the most intimate parts and this re-ignites the passion, we seem to get teased for a while but entering the penalty box is strictly forbidden.
