I have not missed many home games this season but to me there looked far more home fans on than 11500.
I know the South stand was not busy but the East and West stands were far busier than usual. Even outside the ground it was far busier with more people around and queues to get in.
Could it be that normally the season tickets are counted whether they are there or not and through most of the season many season ticket holders do not attend.
Last night was a comparable crowd to Millwall yet QPR had approaching three thousand there and there looked far more home fans on.
Maybe its a case of hide the figures and pay the 40.000k fine off.10 May 2014 at 1:25 pm #130838were you’ve got that from ? the BBC says 14,560
10 May 2014 at 1:38 pm #130839A workmate text me saying the sky press were praiseing us saying the was a good crowd on at the d.w stadium.
10 May 2014 at 1:43 pm #130840Given that the West and East stands hold 7,500 apiece, even if there were 1,000 empty seats in each, with 3,500 from QPR and 1,009 in the South that comes to 17,500. No way was that 14,500 unless the crowds have been exaggerated upwards all season.
10 May 2014 at 2:40 pm #130845Must admit i was quite shocked on leaving the ground last night to hear the attendance. My 8 year old son asked how many fans were there from both clubs. I guessed 3000+ from QPR, then thought only 11500 wiganers turned up. I thought no way, there were well more than that.
10 May 2014 at 3:03 pm #130850The sides of the West were empty.
I can’t see the East but I would imagine that the extras in there were just those missing from the South.
The West holds around 1500 less than the East btw
10 May 2014 at 3:55 pm #130857The east stand holds 8000 when full & the west stand 6000. With the 2 end stands somet like 5500.
I reckon there were about 1k-1.5k spare seats in the west stand with a similar number spare in the east, so 11k at a conservative estimate in those 2.
Probably around 3k from QPR takes it up to 14k & no more than 500-1000 in the south stand.
So I don’t think it will have been far off the figure that was given out11 May 2014 at 12:33 am #130881Last night’s crowd was almost identical to the Warriors v Rhinos semi final last September, which was roundly mocked by some on here.
It seems that not turning up for playoff games isnt just a rugby affliction in Wigan after all.
11 May 2014 at 12:37 am #130882A few comments from QPR fans.

Proof indeed….

For which read “Hey guys. I’m a true supporter. I went last night”……..
11 May 2014 at 3:52 am #130889Whatever the crowd last night our fans were superb and have been all season

The Mutt has spoken looking on the bright side an increase of 3000 fans for a semi final at the DW would I think show progress over the last few years would you not agree

From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!11 May 2014 at 10:51 am #130893The sides of the West were empty.I can’t see the East but I would imagine that the extras in there were just those missing from the South.

The east looked quite full on Friday I would have estimated about 7500 in there however the South was as sparse as I have ever seen it and I would suspect some of the usual incumbents in here defected to the East.
I was surprised when I heard the gate particularly when I saw (and snarled )at people there who only ever turned up at premier league games in the pub afterwards- where the ferk where they against Bournemouth and Huddersfield ? -
