Victor Moses appears to have put the wrong foot forward in his international carrier after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) threatened to report him and his club to the international football governing body, (FIFA) for violating the rule on the release of player for national duty.

The Wigan striker incurred the wrath of the Nigerian federation after asking officials to excuse him from the two friendly fixtures against Botswana and Zambia.

Moses was the only player still being expected at the Eagles camp Wednesday as the rest of the invited 28 players have turned up.

The chairman of the NFF Technical Committee, Chris Green, described the player’s action as “outrageous” and warned that the Nigerian federation would not hesitate to report him and his club to FIFA.

Moses had called the national team secretary, Enebi Achor to inform that he would no longer be travelling to Nigeria because of some personal problems. He offered to make him self available in future.

“That is completely ridiculous. We would not tolerate this type of attitude as Moses can not dictate to us matches the he would play. We will not hesitate to refer this matter to FIFA because it runs foul of international laws,” Green said.

The grouse of the Nigerian federation against Moses is that he was having a divided mind after the country devoted much effort in securing his clearance to represent Nigeria at the full level after the player had initially represented England at both the U-16 and U-20 levels.

FIFA only gave Moses and Shola Ameobi the nod to represent Nigeria more than since six months after NFF began the intensive processing of his international switch.

Though he has dual nationality, Moses was born in Kaduna to Nigerian parents and is eligible to play for Nigeria in line with the amended eligibility rule for players as he is yet to make full debut for England.

In another breath, Mikel Obi claimed to be injured and shunned the Eagles morning training session on the ground that the artificial pitch at the FIFA Goal Project could aggravate his condition.

Instructively, Nigeria will play Botswana on the artificial pitch of Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin on Saturday.

Instead, Mikel trained on his own on the natural grass of the National Stadium and watched the rest of the session from the spectators stand when he rejoined the team.

Indeed most of the players felt uncomfortable about playing on the plastic pitch which they said generated heat and exposed them to injuries.
