This is going in the right direction, let’s see how well it goes down in the tabloid fraternity
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
9 January 2010 at 1:19 am #17648Good work Jay…….however, I still think that “and some fell on stoney ground” will be the order of the day for most of the lazy jack journo’s out there.
I was tempted to comment, but decided not to, as you see even he chose to show the photo of the ‘closed’ South Stand.
Creative licence?…………..The cynic inside me thinks not.
Well done chap for getting in there.
9 January 2010 at 1:25 am #17649as you see even he chose to show the photo of the ‘closed’ South Stand. That does annoy me I must say. They slate our attendances and then show the away end. Arsenal in the Carling Cup, every Fulham game, Chelsea etc etc

Great article jay well done!
9 January 2010 at 4:00 am #17666Well done jayt, good points well put.
Also credit to Paul Hunt and the Journlist who wrote the article
A mention should also go to the editor of the Mail for his bravery for daring to let a proper educated well researched article be printed regarding Wigan Athletic.9 January 2010 at 11:39 am #17692Produced in all its glory in the Mail, JayT.
Nice to see.
Well done, and presumably some credit due to Paul Hunt, too.
9 January 2010 at 6:59 pm #17718It was great to read someone explaining the social, historical and geographical reasons why we have a relatively small fan base. Even Jewell helped by saying Wigan haven’t gone away and that we suffer because scousers have colonised the western suburbs with the result that they and their kids invariably support Everton or Liverpool.
Good on the Mail and good on Jewell.
9 January 2010 at 7:25 pm #17722Decent article
nice one Jaytone thing at a time i know, other hacks don,t give us any credit about other things
Daily Mirror today. on about Heskey
“His career nosedived with spells at Birmingham and Wigan before bouncing back into favour at Villa”
thats not how i remember it.
the bit in the Mail is a start but its an uphill battle to get the credit we deserve for anything
9 January 2010 at 8:21 pm #17733Blackpool and Preston more established… Sounds insulting to me :)
9 January 2010 at 8:48 pm #17738Blackpool and Preston more established… Sounds insulting to me :)Maybe, but it’s the truth.
9 January 2010 at 9:38 pm #17747A fine paper maybe even martinh may give them some credit.
A bit too left wing for me but still a good paper.

I’ve asked for his comments about the Guardian article also, but not got a reply as yet.
I take it he hasn’t read it as he’s not usually backward in coming forward as you know.He doesn’t get on here as often as he used to, family life and house moves have taken its toll, along with the infiltration of the board with all the mongs.
9 January 2010 at 11:50 pm #17754Quite frankly I dont give a monkeys how the rest percieve us….
What Wigan Athletic FC have achieved in the last 15 years is very very rare in English football….
History is all well and good, but Wigan Athletic are now creating their own history!
All this tosh spouted by `those in the know`….is like water off a ducks back to me!

Nicely put there truelatic and seconded. Im only 20 and what I have seen us achieve just in my years is extraordinary. Dont care about attendances and who goes. As long as I see my team progressing its up to others what they do.

Don’t want to offend anyone but the sooner we admit our crowds are sh*t the better.
Yeah we have a lot of decent fans and im not knocking them but no matter what the circumstances, 5,000 for an fa cup match against another prem side is awful, no matter if we got man united and liverpool near us its just an excuse.
All this making excuses for us just winds me up really, i find it a bit patronising, it was shit, if we get an home tie in the 5th round lets hope its a better crowd, lets just be honest for once.
