        Totally agree, Jason.

With the aquisitions he’s made, and the fact that we’ve managed to keep players, we’ve managed to get a good, strong, squad together. Add to this the likes of the rejeuvenated Ben Watson, and things look very good.

The ‘middle third’ of the Premiership will be wide open this season, especially with Hodgson leaving Fulham, and Villa imploding. Perhaps this is THE opportunity for us to move onto the ‘next level’?

Frankly, some of our fans are disappointing me with their negative, ‘heads down’ mentality. If you feel that way…don’t bother going. We can do without the “Bllooody Heeellll!!” brigade mouthing off, when we haven’t scored after 5 mins V Blackpool. You know something, I’m really looking forward to Saturday…..apart from the muppets.

I’ve just heard that N’Zogbia’s put a transfer request in. So what? He’s been hinting at it for weeks, and it’s a surprise it’s took him this long. WE all know he’ll be a player that has the loyalty of a newt. (aren’t all the foreigners?) But fact is, unless someone offers what we are willing to accept, then he’s going nowhere. As we signed him for about 6 million, when he was going nowhere at Newcastle, I think we should look for around 10 million. But hopefully, we can hold on to him for a little while, yet. If he goes….it’s an opportunity for Victor Moses, or we will sign someone else.

Even this has not clouded my optimism. Come On Latics!!!

Well said… the opportunity is there to kick on and take advantage of the turmoil with clubs around us, we just need to take it.

Can I be the first to say it this season…. Just look how far we have come….. :)

i call it as I see it & I don’t think Bobby has made enough signings in the right positions for me to feel confident in this season

On top of that, unless he has changed drastically from last season we still have an incredibly one dimensional manager in terms of his formations, tactics & substitutions.

i think we’ll struggle again & am standing by my end of season prediction from 09/10 that Bobby will be sacked by/in October

Not being funny, but you “Call it as you see it”? You’ve said in another thread that you haven’t seen any of the pre-season games.

But one that has brought in players he feels CAN play the system. As opposed to Scharner and Bramble, who are hoof merchants.

October 2015? Because it won’t be THIS October. We’ll be the surprise package this season.

I haven’t seen any of them. That doesn’t stop me being able to feel that there haven’t been enough signings in the right positions. There are too many positions where we don’t have any back up as of 9.30 this morning. The fact I haven’t seen 90 minutes of a menaningless friendly against Real Zaragoza is irrelevant

I’d disagree that Scharner was a “hoof merchant”. In fact one of his strengths when playing at centre half was his ability to bring the ball out of defence. Besides that it doesn;t matter if he feels he has players who can play his “system”. It won’t always work – some times the team will have off days & some times the opposition will have a system that combats ours. That’s when Bobby needs to have back up options & last season he showed a distinct lack of ability in that respect. I hope he’s learned his lesson

I hope so, i really do. But if Latics start this season in the same manner that alot of last season was played & Bobby hasn’t learnt the lessons of his mistakes last season, we already have a chairman who (alongside stating his faith in him) has criticised certain aspects of his management & if he doesn’t see that he’s changed these – I don;t think he’ll hesitate to pull the trigger & I think a couple of months is ample time to see whether he has improved
