Well they appointed an ex Liverpool player…and Mr Busby didn’t do too badly did he?
Why, they even erected a statue of him.

19 June 2013 at 1:52 am #116535Just shows like all clubs we have our clowns following us…..god that Stephen Sage has had a hard life following our club, in 14 years he’s had to write to the paper 3 times to express his disappointment.
Just think what he’d be like if we had done nothing as a club in that time
19 June 2013 at 1:57 am #116536if he had been supporting us in the dark days he would have drove Dear Deirdre up the wall ;)
19 June 2013 at 2:23 am #116543Said it before and I’ll say it again – it never ceases to amaze me how many absolute gobshites supposedly support our club
19 June 2013 at 2:55 am #116555I was disappointed at first.
As I have said I wanted to go down the continuity route that Swansea took.
However I think since Coyle has been appinted everything he has said is absolutely spot on!
Including that he should be judged on what he does at Wigan Athletic and not his past.
His first test will be who he can bring in before the season starts and I for one am eager to see who he recruits.
If he gets the balance right of keeping certain players e.g. Maloney and Kone ,uses the funds from a McCarthy sale to add a few more and a couple of clever loan signings then that is the best I can hope for from any manager!
All this never going to a game while he is in charge though is absolutely embarrassing.
It reminds me of the Stoke fan I was laughing at circling the Brittania with Hughes out on the side of his wagon and pains me to think other teams will read this garbage and think of us in the same manner.
And the theory of him beating all these world class managers to the post is utter tosh!
McClaren was my first choice but quite frankly he has a 50/50 record of getting it right.
Mulensteen and Phelan both worked at united so they must be good has to be the stupidest thing I have heard people say throughout this whole saga! I mean really what does that count for other than they have had an easier job than anyone in the premier league for over a decade!
History tells us that coaches and players who have left united and become a success are the exception and not the rule!

19 June 2013 at 2:23 pm #116590One of them is from Chorley. I thought only egg chasers came from places outside of Wigan?

You’re probably right but if they do then surely that can be seen as a massive acheivement for Coyle & the club straight away.
Which I will give him credit for if it comes to pass.
I wont hammer him to the wall if they leave though because it was always on the cards.

And who was Coyle’s gaffer when he was a player at Noblot?

Rioch?
20 June 2013 at 2:26 pm #116643I can understand people having an opinion, but to say your going to stop going to watch your team because of a manager who hasn’t even played one game yet, then your not going to be missed.
I wasn’t impressed with Coyle’s appointment, however, having had time to listen to what he has said and the fact he genuinely looks up for the challenge, I will give him the benefit of the doubt and get right behind him.
Lots to look forward to.
