I was glad to see him make the bench on Tuesday at Carlisle so hopefully he gets a start at Bolton if he’s fitness levels are up there but how can you get match fit if you don’t play. The injury to Assguard will no doubt force Maloney to reshuffle the pack.
If reports are true then he might be the answer to our midfield frailties, someone who can be the first line of defence for Hughes and Morrison because we are definitely gonna need it Saturday.
By all accounts he’s a big 6ft 2″ strong defensive midfielder and very good one at that something we lack right now in the middle. If he can do that Naylor role sweeping the sh1t up that will do for me because I don’t think both Smith’s will be good enough to stop a Bolton side who like going straight down the middle
Shaw and Matty Smith in midfield will work well I think.
I would bring Watts in on Saturday though and go 5 at the back. We’ll be in for a tough day in defence.

Please let’s not make Horwich to be guaranteed top 2. Yes they’ll be difficult and we are a work in progress but they’ll certainly be very nervy and apprehensive about taking us on.Need a goal early to get a big home crowd on their backs and we could surprise again. He hasn’t come through the academy so presumably will be an overpaid waste of space. I’m looking forward to seeing him though.

We played the best football in years first half on Tuesday. Attacked in numbers and defended in numbers. I liked the way Matt Smith and Baba kept changing roles, if one bombed forward the other stayed back.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Jones made an appearance on the left to cover Thelo, just like Clare sprung up from nowhere.From Matlock to ManU
