    …..Not a chance!

Another brilliant performance by the lads yesterday !! all the more pleasing for being under pressure for large parts of the game but not only dealing with it defensively coming up good with constant counter attacks throughout the game!

We are without a doubt playing some brilliant football at the moment (world class?!) and common sense surely dictates that playing a 3-4-3 with high pressing wingbacks would leave you vulnerable to wingers on the attack. For 2 games now against world class opposition Boycey and Jean have been fantastic switching between defence and attack.

Stand out player for me yesterday was Fig’s.

I have questioned his defensive ability throughout his time here but I thought he was fantastic yesterday not only making a number of hard tackles but also surging forward rather than looking to offload the ball at every opportunity giving us another dimension to our game going forward.

A chufty badge also has to go to Al Habsi, Caldwell, the two Macs, Di Santo , Gomez and Moses as any of those were in with a shout of man of the match.

*Martinez praising spoiler – Darkside please look away*

Tactics aside, the brilliant turn around in form and the fantastic chance we have given ourselves of staying up I would like to thank Martinez for his words after the game.

Obviously delighted with his cool manner still intact he talked of how easy it is to give bad publicity to Wigan Athletic and that today is a day for everyone involved with the club to be very proud.

He gave special praise to the fans for keeping behind the team despite frustrating times.

The man is Wigan Athletic through and through and I could not be happier to have him as manager.

Well done Bobby goodpost goodpost goodpost
Well done Lads goodpost goodpost goodpost
Well done the 200 fans who made the trip goodpost goodpost goodpost
Well done Caldwell for showing Van Pussy up for the sore loser he is goodpost goodpost goodpost goodpost goodpost goodpost goodpost goodpost goodpost goodpost

Not only that Salford but in the summarising after the game Gary Neville froze the screen at the point in the build up to Gomez’s goal when Arsenal still had the ball & bugger me it didn’t half look like Latics were playing 3-4-3!!!!!

Di Santo is still the lone striker though – no other Latics player was within a country mile of him when he put that first one away!! ;)

Love how the three forwards were switching positions as well…

Di Santo getting out on the wing a few times and Sammon coming on to start on the left for all of 2 minutes….

If your playing a man marking system thats gunna mess with your head..

    A tactical masterstroke!!! :cheer:
