Spoke to someone at the club at the Bournemouth game and they had not heard anything about the player. May have been a prankster on Twitter but there’s time yet.
maybe it is all silent because the Norwegian transfer window does not open until 14th january
On the origins of the name Wigan, my undertsanding was it came from the “Wiggin” being the ancient name for the Beach Tree. Hence the tree on top of the Crown (tree & Crown) from the coat of arms.
This would tend to be reinforced by the name Wiggin Tree on Parbold Hill (which was always in Wigan borough) and Beachill.

According to most historians, the town was named Wigan before people tried to connect it to Wiggin Trees – which they did because Wiggin sound like the local pronunciation of Wigan.
The town’s present coat of arms was only designed in 1922, and prior to that that town’s seal didn’t feature a tree.
Beech trees aren’t even native to the north or England.
