All the best at Latics. Please do not promise us fast flowing attacking football and then don’t deliver.
Two strikers please.
Can’t help but think that Wigan’s left wing MP made the decision for Mr Whelan. Nice one Socialist Big Brother.19 November 2014 at 8:04 pm #135696Well he did play 4-4-2 at Cardiff…..
19 November 2014 at 8:31 pm #135700Now looking forward to Saturday with renewed enthusiasm. As my saying goes: today is the first day of the rest of the season.
If it’s a full house, you can always sit in Lisa Nandy’s seat ( she won’t be needing it, nor is she welcome ).
20 November 2014 at 12:02 am #135705Has she ever been to a Latics match, or is she just like all the other Councillors who only realised Wigan had a football team when there was a Wembley band wagon to jump on?
20 November 2014 at 1:11 am #135710Instant siege mentality is just what we need and what we thrive on. Bring it on.
20 November 2014 at 1:18 am #135713Hear, hear to all
20 November 2014 at 1:22 am #135714Has she ever been to a Latics match, or is she just like all the other Councillors who only realised Wigan had a football team when there was a Wembley band wagon to jump on?It’s not just Griff who asks rhetorical questions
Ever generous, DW will have reserved a seat for her just behind the technical area…
In fairness she has shown her knowledge of football by regularly showing her support for 2 upfront. ;)
20 November 2014 at 1:25 am #135715As popular as Brady and Hindley, Ian Huntley, Fred and Rose West, Dennis Neilson and Peter Sutcliffe so no change there then :)
20 November 2014 at 1:58 am #135720I can see grant holt coming back next week
20 November 2014 at 3:12 am #135725On a more serious note, what action are the FA actually taking regarding the text messages ?. Is there an ongoing investigation ?. Whelan has covered all bases but in the same breadth he said he can’t see the FA doing anything.
Weird one this, surely the FA can’t drag their heels on this one. If it does Malky better getbhis finger out and at least get us into the top 6 and the FA Cup semi”s or I’ll be calling for his head
20 November 2014 at 3:19 am #135726If he is found guilty by the F A a clause in the contract says it can be terminated according to talk shoite website.
20 November 2014 at 11:08 am #135730Nobody actually knows what he as done apart from people he as sent texts to and big brothers text message spies. We and the media can only have heard second third and fourth party.
At the worst it may only be as bad as what most people who watch Latics, breath air or sit in parliament have ever done and that is be inappropriate.
Face it how many people have never ever had some sort of chuckle or used some kind of language that is not appropriate to the PC police. Even the PC police themselves can not be so holy and nobody can ever sit on moral high ground unless they have sat alone on a Tibetan mountain all their lives and then some mild form of inappropriate language could have occurred involving Yetties or Snow Leopards.
I am not at all agreeing with Racist, Homophobic or any other behaviour that is insulting to anyone else or that could be discriminative but everyone should look at there selves a little deeper before criticising someone else.
Roger Allport wrote about the several stages of prejudice and discrimination starting with mild micky taking leading to death and destruction. Antilocution the first stage usually refers to a majority group making jokes about a minority group, but it can also apply to members of a minority group making jokes or speaking negatively about other members of the same minority group (or about members of the majority group). Speech is in terms of negative stereotypes and negative images. This is also called hate speech. It is commonly seen as harmless by the majority. Antilocution itself may not be harmful, but it sets the stage for more severe outlets for prejudice.I am sure in this case this can not be true due to the wide range and diverse nature of people Malky has worked with through his career but this may not be the case for some who sit on the moral high ground or support the people who sit on the moral high ground ie voters who use disgusting homophobic and racist language but then place their cross next to the person preaching against that type of behaviour.
Anyway good look Malky, some of us on here however are oneupfrontist!20 November 2014 at 12:31 pm #135734I just hope it settles down as quickly as possible.
Get Whelan out of the limelight (easier said than done) because his comments will cause more debate. The most important thing now is the relationship between our new manager, the coaching staff and players. If they are working together there is a good chance our results will improve.

he’s on talksport as I type :pinch:

Why doesn’t that surprise me.
The club needs a careful & considered PR response now and Whelan is the opposite when in front of a camera or mic.Dare I ask what he said?
