Its sounding like he’s not getting backed to me. That lack of signings and targeted players deciding to go elsewhere and not to bigger clubs sounds like the wages budget is a choking collar he can’t loosen.

I certainly don’t expect anywhere near the £10k some of those players who’ve gone were on but the bulk of players that have come in have little or no league experience and I’m sure none are on life changing money.

This is a 50/50 league were half try to play football and the other half just lob up it up top to the big lad then 10 men behind the ball.

We found this out last season we’re all our points came from teams in the top half while we struggled with the bottom half sides.

You can sense in Maloneys tone theres a hidden frustration (without getting into trouble) at the lack of experience and quality with some of the current signings.

I just hope these young lads can deal with both ends of the L1 footballing spectrum otherwise I can see a mirror image of last season.
      But,
My biggest concern is injuries. Even with 4 extra bodies which Maloney wants I think the squad as a whole is very very weak probably the weakest I’ve seen in ages and experience and that will be are undoing.

When No1 gets injured and No2 steps up to the plate, No2 will be no were near good enough and the sh!t will hit the fan so hard it will slap dash the wall, ceiling and next doors

Yep, I think you are right CW.
Looks like STOCKPORT (what have they ever achieved) are going to beat us to the signing of the Crystal Palace left back on a season long loan.
Shaun is going to need a magic wand to keep the fans in the stands.

Its not ideal having to compete with a low budget but all I want is a team that play decent football and not like we did for large parts of last season. If the team isn’t good enough then we will have to live with it. If I have to watch the dross that was on show last season, pass sideways and backwards for 80% of our possession we will lose die hards.
Losing 4-3 cos the opposition have better quality players isnt a problem at least our team had a bloody good go and its great to see the academy players in the team.

        From Matlock to ManU
        What a journey!

I get were your coming from but were been outdone on wages and were not talking life changing wages. No one will know what our budget is per player week max but there’s a number of Maloney’s targets gone elsewhere and I can only imagine it’s what we’ve offered.
I certainly don’t expect us to compete with the likes of Birmingham’s but we’re slipping right down the pecking order of players choices which isn’t good. We must easily have the smallest budget out there.
Danson got us out the sh!t and every fan thanks him dearly but now the clearouts gone their not been replaced.

I’m looking through our league and it will be as competitive as it’s ever been and Maloney needs a few decent players.
I don’t do friendlies, they mean nothing and I don’t read into them. I’m currently looking at our squad and it’s as weak as its ever been.

Robinson out till October, Clare sold, loan comes in crocked, on top of a whole host of players we sold?.
Wait till December wind rain Cup games and players start getting injured, Jesus Huddleston will be thinking when he’s asked to play:- “Fcukin he’ll, I didn’t sign up for this !!

No one’s expecting 10k here 10k but when players start turning their backs on us for lower or lesser clubs it’s very hard to turn the tide.
Dansons settled the ship but we need the sails wacking up and we need to start making long term player plans. Loanees are a temp thing. They play an integral part of any side but they go back and the process starts again which isn’t forward thinking

Maloney’s already Lidl and Aldi shopping for players, it won’t be long before he’s outback at the food bank.
He’s been asked to produce a footballing feast from 1 carrot 1 spud and an Oxo cube.

Summed it up. Think recruitment wise unless Maloney does a David Copperfield then I think we really won’t get anyone of quality in….what we presently have is a skeleton squad. Aspull FC probably have a bigger budget. Maloney has tempered his frustration for the press but bet he’s absolutely knobbed off after last seasons 8pt and embargo penalties. He must have been looking forward to starting this season on a level playing field. Instead his hopes of building his own squad has been severely restricted by whatever our budget is…..think he deserves better backing after what he went through last season.

Looks like Joe Hugill could sign on loan from the Red Mancs.
Quite a useful player, if we play him as a proper centre forward.

You know what I look back at Talal’s time at the club when he first came that’s what Wigan fans had always want
              Engagement
As fans well bought into his social media p!ss takes, coming into the supporters club on the pitch walk around before a game basically he was in touch with the fans and listened to the supporters.
Let’s not forget what they did behind the scenes winning awards for services within the community.
We all know how it ended but I never blamed them. They were so naive they were lead a merry dance and we paid the price for huge unvetted wage spends.
But I wish the club was like still that, those upstairs in touch with those downstairs. I’ve never felt more further away from those upstairs than we currently are, the club feels as cold as the name a Brick.

We definitely need a CEO (a general foreman) who plays that Talal role be that go between solely looking after the football.

Whats our future ? don’t ask because by the sounds of it it’s just about survival. Maloney’s clearly frustrated and if he doesn’t get it right spending pennies he’ll be gone.

Reminds me of the building game
“If you don’t like it ? You know were the door is!” Sadly at this rate Houdini would struggle to get out this mess

I think the players we have signed so far, indicate to me a quicker style of playing. Similar to the last 3 games of last season.

He would be I agree but again it’s a loan, our squads been built on loans. Latest rumour I hear now is Jony Smiths off that’s what I keep hearing so if that’s the case and Hughes goes we will have sold 3 contracted players in as many weeks.

We seem to be getting rid of the cards in players and replacing them with agency workers i.e loan players soon we’ll have a team of zero contract players pardon the pun.

I honestly thought come June 30th and all the expensive contacted players and loans had ended Maloney would be given the funds to build a squad so that in the next few years we’re challenging for promotion. You can hear in Maloneys voice he thought the same to.

You know sign players, some with abit of experience to hopefully help the younger lads pref our own coming through.

I’ve always been an advocate for youth I’ve screamed from the roof tops that that’s the way and only way forward for us but I meant our own like Hughes Tickle etc so there’s a value a sell on.
£5million for Hughes although I’d love for him to stay that’s a fantastic price for a relatively inexperienced young lad so to be honest we have to let him go with sell on’s of course and that money should be ploughed straight back into the set up.

That’s the avenue we need or should I say, have to head down more Charlie Hughes’s more Sam Tickle’s. I just don’t get it that, an army of loans all be it good loans will benefit the club in the long term.

Signing half decent experienced players and then a scattering of our own youth is the only forward rather than a whole host of short-term outside loan fixes.

I bet Maloney’s sat back thinking what the fecking hell is going on here ! Weres my players?. Weres my experience?? Weres the cash and why is my wage budget peanuts why can’t I sign 1 or 2 older battle hardened players???.

Yes I’m all for youth but that balance has to be right and right now it’s way way top heavy
