I think he’s overrated and there’s plenty of better full backs defensively and offensively that we should be looking at.

Rangel – why does everyone rave about this lad? I see he his still where he has always been. Doesn’t seem to be a huge queue waiting to buy him, does there?
Young – maybe. He’s on a par with Melchiot but not much better, in my view.
Onouha, Hutton – probably wouldn’t come to Wigan.
Neill – you would pay that scumbag the ridiculous wages he would no doubt demand? In fact, scratch that question – you probably would.
Mario is a quality player imo. Will do us as first choice this season and then be a superb back up next.

All 5 of the above are better than Mario and I think they would all join.
All five? No chance.
Rangel and Neill would be the only two who’d consider it.
Young may consider movng to someone like us in a couple of years, and Alan Hutton saw Villa as a step down from Rangers, and only went for the money. Not a cat in hell’s chance he’s consider us.
Onuoha? If you were a young lad, would you leave City at present?
If I was a young lad at City, then yes I would leave if a nearby Premier League club came in for me. Just think of the amount of first team chances he’d get at City, then compare it to the chances he’d get at Wigan. City can go out and but a player twice as good as Onouha, and I think deep down the lad knows that he will have to leave. So why not a team like us?
Not seen a great deal of Onouha but from what I have seen he is vastly overrated. Besides, even if he did leave, clubs like Everton/Villa/Fulham would be in the queue ahead of us.

So why not a team like us?Richards isn’t playing well, and if he can get a chance in the side and prove himself, he’ll stay. City are on the up and up, and if you were a young player there, you’d want to be part of it, at least for the time being until the door was firmly shut in your face.
As bobbygee said, there will be several other clubs who’d be higher on his list of possible suitors than us.
I think Mario is okay. Not brilliant, but he’s not a bad player. If we need a decent replacement, yet again it would have to be a young Championship player, or a little heard of foreign type.
If we were splashing some cash, I’d go for Steven Whittaker from Rangers. Reliable, good going forward, and has scored some cracking goals (look up the one he scored against Sporting in the UEFA Cup two seasons ago). Unfortunately, if anyone tempted him south, I’m sure it would be a bigger prospect than us.
