I hope they ask him what colour shoes he’s wearing :)

I hope they also ask him really mean questions like: “You were the lowest scorers in England until last week and you let in countless goals …. your supporters have also booed the team off repeatedly for the last 13 months. This didn’t happen with Bruce or Jewell in-charge. Why?” :angry-boxing:

Yes, I’m sure that’s exactly what they’ll ask.

Bet you were one of the boo’ers which is just pathetic you should get behind your team no matter how bad they are playing

I had a read of his book ‘Kicking Every Ball’ last night, and have to say it’s hard not to like him, when you read how articulate he is, and his ideas and ideals on the game.

I think the main problem has been the execution of his ideals amongst the playing squad. It’s taken a long time for things to start clicking, which I believe they have over the past couple of months. Notice I say ‘start’ to click. It’s not the finished project yet, but the progress which has been made has been veryt noticeable. We went to Anfield on Saturday,. and actually totally outplayed Liverpool for most of the game. Our biggest problem is sudden lapses and giving cheap goals away. We can have all the possession and then slip up by conceding a cheap goal. If we can cut that out, it will make a big difference. The worrying thing is that we’ve left it very tight for ourselves. But it’s a real battle down there, so we’ll see.

Let’s hope it continues against United!

Can’t believe you actually said something positive about martinez!
btw, me bird got me the road from wigan pier for christmas and that’s a very good read if you haven’t read it already, would recommend buying it. Made me realise that if we do go down to the championship, its not the end wigan and we could be in FAR worse positions than we are atm

I get behind my team more than most, I just want some real answers from him about subjects such as some Wigan fans wanting him out. I want him to stay.

We have possibly the BEST supporters in the United Kingdom, certainly better than all in the Premier League.

They obviously didn’t ask him that, just about making changes for FA Cup games.

Read all the books and was there as we climbed up the leagues, mate. Ed Jones’ book, documenting our first season up, is a really good book.

Roberto is going nowhere, and nor is there a manager about who I would actually WANT to replace him with. I had previously said Allardyce, because I don’t mind that kind of football, percentage football, they call it. I like any kind of football, as long as you get results. (This ‘good football, bad football’ thing winds me up)
But as a team we’ve started to mix it up a bit more. And with that pitch getting heavier, we’ll need to.
But back to Allardyce. He obviously has high opinions of himself. He’s said openly he feels he should ‘stay in the Premiership’ and when he came out and said he wasn’t interested in the relegation-worried West Brom job, before they had even approached him, I thought it was cheeky, and rather arrogant of him.
It was the total opposite of Roberto Martinez. And say Whelan had panicked, and relieved him of his duties, replacing him with somebody like that. Someone who would jump ship as soon as a better ‘offer’ comes along. We’ve had that, not that long ago.

Changing my tune? No just coming out of the doldrems which I had allowed myself to get sunk and pulled into. It’s amazing the benefits of a chat with JAYT, an apology to certain people off this board (who deserved one from myself) and the viewing of the film with him and the website fellas.

I actually felt PROUD when I viewed that the other day. What other clubs manager would do that? Sir Alex Ferguson only just talks to the media! It’s unique. WE are a unique club. A small club, yes, make no mistake. But if it allows us to do things like that, then I’m all for us being a small club.
And I went away and re-evaluated both Roberto’s long term plans for the club, creating a sound structure from both youth teams, and senior teams, and also my own support for the club. I’ve never moaned as much about us, as much as I have lately. And I suddenly came to the conclusion that I was in the wrong, and needed to ‘buck my ideas up’. I also realised that come Premiership or Championship next season, I will still be here…..so why waste time moaning and groaning?

It’s time to get fully behind the manager, and the lads. Even if you are reading this and thinking ‘no, I’m still not happy with things’. Ok, that’s your perogative But as a supporter, it’s time to remain focused and get right behind the lads. I’m really up for this now. It’s going to be touch and go, I still think it’ll be tight, I ain’t kidding myself, and nor should you. But we’ve already had a ‘bonus’ with the point on Saturday. If we could get something from United, it would be superb. I’m so up for that game now, you wouldn’t believe.

                          I hope we ALL are.

If you want some real answers then maybe you should offer some real questions – questions which invite answers rather than ‘questions’ which simply act as an attempt at a telling off.
I would suggest that asking “why have supporters booed your team off for the last 13 months” would be stupid.

We have possibly the BEST supporters in the United Kingdom, certainly better than all in the Premier League.

On what basis do you think that this is true?

glad uv’e changed your tune, though i must admit after the aston villa game i didn’t give us a cat in hell’s chance of staying up. Now, i think we will probably still go down, though I will say we have good chance of staying up. You remind me a bit of my dad he has been having a hump about wigan for awhile now.
That book by ed jones is it northern soul? my brother read that said it was a brilliant read. I wasn’t there for the really bad days of 1995 era, as I was four years old. Started going when me dad started, which was probly around 97/98 though i was too young to really remember anything.
Was really good reading that book though as it really puts into perspective how far we have actually come and make’s you remember that we are STILL little wigan taking the pi$$
