Considering that’s your first post, not much of an introduction if I may say so.
Regarding the post, he has to stay until seasons complete any way, so let’s now save opinions until then.
A bit of hope for you to cling to, Paul Jewells first season was a disaster, losing to Canvey Island in FA Cup as well.
The rest, as they say, is history.

I’ve said this before & I’ll say it again – Paul Jewell’s first season was not a disaster.
He started off very badly admittedly & we were hovering around teh bottom 4 & as you say got knocked out of the cup by Canvey Island but by Xmas he’d turned it around & in the back end of the season our form was play off material.
Yes you could look at the season before when we got to the play offs & say in comparison to that it was a step back but for me that was only in terms of league position. You could also see we were improving as the season went on
Can anybody really say that at the moment considering our record since the end of November?

The two seasons are completely incomparible, apart from the fact we were shit for some or most of both. Jewell had a much healthier transfer & wage budget than most of other League 2 clubs at the time. Spending £1.2m on Ellington is probably the equivalent of us spending £12m on a player now. Roberto has one of the smallest transfer budgets in the Premier League and there is massive disparity in wages from probably around £5k – £170k a week whereas in League 2 most players earn between £500 – £2000. You can buy your way out of the third tier even now with a couple of million quid, what does a couple of million quid buy Roberto – a few months wages for a couple of players.

Its a different league. Jewell had the sort of money in League 2 equivalent to a Top 4 club in the top flight. It was just a case of getting the right players and we were away. To use that in reverse, Martinez is running with a Cheltenham Town sized budget, probably can’t afford the players he really wants and some people on here still demand that we should be in mid-table

We were a mid table side when Roberto took over…

I appreciate all that but it was the umpteenth time that I’ve heard a defender/believer in Bobby use the “Paul Jewell 1st season” comparison & state that we were gash in his first season
I was just pointing out that we weren’t

On top of the points you add about the difference in transfer budget you can also add that, at the time, Jewell wasn’t restricted by the transfer windows & was able to bring in the likes of Filan & Jackson amongst others outside of June, July, August & January

“some people on here still demand that we should be in mid-table” – I don’t but I do expect a manager to be able to learn from his mistakes & be able to try & put right what is going wrong. I’ve not seen much evidence from Bobby on that score

“You could also see we were improving as the season went on
Can anybody really say that at the moment considering our record since the end of November?” – Whilst not comparing the 2 in any other way I stand by this comparison. at the very least we should have expected to see some improvement this season but results wise we’re getting worse & performance wise (IMO) we’re getting worse as the season goes on.

Our results and performances are getting worse?

Okay the amount of points we’ve picked up has slowed somewhat but I would suggest we look a lot more solid than we did a few months ago.

For goodness sake Spurs whalloped us 9-1 in November. I think you would have to agree that our defence does not look as porous as it did prior to Christmas.

The problem we have at the moment is scoring goals, but I’m sure that will come. Although disappointed with the Birmingham display, there were signs in that second half that all is not lost.

As I’ve said before, it’s not so much the system that is the problem for me, it’s a couple of the players in it.

Drop Scharner (from what I’ve read today it looks like he’s leaving anyway) and bring in Boyce for Mario. Put Moses behind Hugo and we start to look a lot more of a threat going forward.

We’re at the stage now where we really have to start going for teams starting with Liverpool on Monday ;)

Correct Jonesy, we arent playing the percentages. Possession on the edge of your own penalty area counts for nothing.

This ‘Martinez bashing’ has got rather fooking mundane now, hasn’t it?

I’d like to propose here and now that anything that can’t be considered as ‘constructive’, be fooked off sharpish.

It’ll all peak again, if Liverpool turn us over. Yet let’s be honest, when was the last time we beat Liverpool?………exactly.

Tuesday will see a few new posters appearing, no doubt.

Depends what you call constuctive Dave, and you yourself have been guilty of “Martinez bashing.” I don’t call closing your eyes and pretending we are not in trouble constructive. This is a fans forum afterall isn’t it?
