I can understand the pass it out from the back mentality and getting everyone comfortable on the ball, however, i wish he would just add a caveat to that by saying, if Gareth Bale is bearing down on you, and you have already tried to pass it back to the keeper once, GET RID.

I think he probably does, see my comment further up the thread. He encourages them to play it out from the back, he doesn’t tell them to do it at the cost of leaking a goal. The players have to take responsibility for deciding when that it’s appropriate and when it isn’t.
Mick McArthy, he’ll get us out of the Championship
I’m sure our current squad would suit the McArthy way of playing.
How many of the current squad do you think will still be here next season if we get relegated?????
Roughly the same number that will be here if we stay up??
I agree Tipperary. I don’t think there will be the mass exodus that many expect.
The last thing we’d need is to completely scrap what Martinez has introduced at the club and revert to the kick and rush tactic of McCarthy.

I’d agree with that to a certain extent but on numerous occasions such like the incident on Saturday, we almost look scared to take that option, like its brainwashed into the players that this is the way we must play at all times.
I don’t know, part of me thinks that the odd mistake like this is a small price to pay for having players who feel confident on the ball and over the season ,as we have seen, we actually start off goal scoring moves from these situations, and just to hoik the ball would have meant us not having scored them.
will bob be here next season ?
anything can happen unexpectedly in football , and im expecting the unexpected to happen
whelan also must be near to end of his tether with the club
cant see him throwing more money away , he has done that wore the t-shirt so to speak
and his venture will soon be coming to a close
he may stay untill parachute money has all gone, but our concern will be for our clubs future
and worst that could happen would be to sell to ian lannagon and the wurriors
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

Don’t be daft. He has bought his grandson a chippy at the side of the ground and he knows that it will get better custom in prem. chill winston. It will be alright.
Even with no additions ,McCarthy on the way and nobody to sign a new contract (bar Mcmanaman) I still think the team could shape as follows.
Forwards : Maloney Kone Mcmanaman
Midfield: Gomez Espinoza
Wing backs: Beausejour Boyce
Centre Backs: Ramis Caldwell Golobart
GK: Al Habsi
I know its a hard league to get back out of but that IMO is one hell of a Championship team.
Kone has said he will stay if we go down (time will tell if he is a man of his word) and thanks to the brilliant contract structure including relgation release clauses anyone who wants to leave in contract can do on our terms or not at all.
Not that any of the above means anything at the moment.

I’m sure Whelan loves this club more than any of us.
No. Some of us were here long before Whelan, and will be here long after him as well.
Nobody loves a club more than its fans. All the others…players, managers, chairmen, etc are all expendables. For many, its just an employer or a business enterprise.
Im not saying Whelan doesn’t care…Im sure he does.
When I was a keeper and the clock was running down like that the forwards would push right up and I would aim a massive kick into one of the opposite corners. Common sense really when you think about it !

When the clock was running down? We’d only been playing ten minutes
Had they run out of replacement brain cells in duty free in that texas airport?

Welcome back, by the way ;)
Jet lag ! I had heard about the calamitous goal but didn’t know if it was their first or second and just assumed from reading this thread that it was indeed their second ! ;) Actually, did I assume or presume ? My mind is still mush ! :S
