Well I guess your admittance that things are a bit iffy is a step in the right direction as to you realizing that something is amiss ! I don’t quite know where your European Cup reference has come from but it certainly hasn’t come from me ! So the fact that I have been going on the actual games for just under 8 years makes me a relatively new ” Supporter ” but how long have I actually been a ” Fan ” ? This seems to have been overlooked by a few chosen ones on here !!

You see, I do recognise that we aren’t playing as well as we can at the moment – very poorly, in fact, in the Bolton game – and realise there is a better than even chance we may go down. But I have thought that for the last 6 and a quarter years since I became a fan. You seriously think that I think this team is good enough to do anything other than struggle every season? Of course it will, because the size and stature of club we are, and probably always wil be, dictates that.

So, it is actually you serial moaners who think we should be tw@tting the likes of Newcastle and Everton every week who are the deluded ones not the “Chosen Few” who continue to understand the club’s position in the scheme of things, recognise its failings, yet prefer to expend our energy offering as much support to the club and team as we can.

Interesting that this sneering, sarcastic label of “Chosen Few” was created by the terminally negative and is levelled at the generally positive ones. A clear sign of an inferiority complex if I ever I saw one, which probably also explains why you are all so negative and miserable all the time ;)

Our stay in the Prem was always going to be shorter rather than longer. I think we have done remarkable to stay there so long. Its no longer about how good are your players manager etc, its now how rich are your owners and how many millions can you spend. We have not the resources of most of the other teams and can never expect to have a huge fanbase in an area surrounded by 4 of the biggest clubs in Britain. I just hope that we dont get embarrassed and if we do go down then lets go fighting. Bob clearly isnt the man to do what is an impossible job in all honesty but then again who else could?

Griff, the hat is staying ! I didn’t use the term ” Chosen few ” and there is nothing wrong with wanting to move up a level, after all Uncle Dave had a dream did he not ! You know I aint a miserable get, far from it, but I do like to vent my spleen on here when I think that something is clearly going wrong and that the side as a whole is regressing before our very eyes. As a paying supporter surly I have a right to air my views !

How sad it must be for you to walk round with that hanging over your head all the time ! I’m a go getter and always will be so I have a different view on what can or could have been achieved at Wigan ! People who accept what you have just said are the sort of people you see on those Lowry paintings trudging along through life happy with their lot even though it aint a lot !!

As long as you have a coherrent argument to back your fantasies up then that’s fine. How exactly do you expect us to be doing anything other than struggling then?

Lowest gates in the Premiership, lowest income in the Premiership, highest wages as a percentage of turnover in the Premiership, debt ridden (albeit mostly to Dave Whelan with no security on his loans), no new potential investors because we are an awful business prospect for anyone and to top it all off we have some of the most deluded fans with unrealistic aspirations in the league as well!

It’s all very well having aspirations but they have to be realistic. I aspire to be an amozonian goddess with thighs that could open a walnut but my problem is I have testicles. It’s an aspiration but without loads of money I ain’t going to get there….similar to the football club really ;) Any donations greatly appreciated.

Note: The amazonian bit might be a lie and any donations received may well be spent in the pub and not necessarily getting rid of my widgie!

What was our average attendance say 20 years ago ? I think you will find that there has been a very big upward curve. ie From last season in Championship to first season in Prem it doubled ! Even now that those figures are falling rapidly they are still a damn sight bigger than 20 years ago so therefore progression has been made ! Now since our overstayed welcome in the Prem, do you not think that we could have maybe improved the squad a tad and used some of the monies made from the good players we found and shipped out at massive profits ! Speculate to accumulate and all that. If Uncle Dave doesn’t have his pipe dream any more then how come he doesn’t admit it and say that we are punching above our weight ? As I see it Uncle Dave is recouping his loses ( And why not ) but giving the impression that we are moving forward ( Martinez sound bites ) when in fact we are regressing at a rate of knots and now the fans are wising up and voting with their feet ! Too many folk on here feel that as a club we owe Bob and that maybe Bob owes us, well in football there is no room for sentimentality and I hate to admit it but Bob is the only one punching above his weight and he is dragging us down with him ! There are far worse squads than us in the Prem and there have been in previous seasons. These worse squads have bettered us on numerous occasions both on the pitch and in the league, and so that tells me there is a problem and as a paying customer ( season ticket holder ) I can see the short comings week in week out but Bob perseveres and so does Uncle Dave. I just find it a shame that we were given the chance that many would just love to get and we didn’t improve ! It could have been done gradually in my opinion but hey we all have different thoughts and aspirations ! Life would be dull if we all shared the same views !
