28 July 2017 at 12:08 am #160692Wigan Athletic selling their only assets and replacing them with mid 30’s year old free transfers…… Are any of you truly shocked? I am guessing all the hysteria of a promotion push is now ebbing away with the annual closing down sale process starting a little later this year.
Your missing something here yoz, its Power who is touting for a move that’s why he wont play again until the window shuts. In other words if he stays.
28 July 2017 at 1:58 am #160694One website is already stating Bogle has joined QPR on loan. I hope this is wrong and he is sold rather than loaned. Please tell me this is not true, ffs. I personally think Bogle will get goals in Div1 the same as Grigg.
There can only be one reason , money. If this is the case sell and use some to improve the squad.
I’m getting sick to fookin death of whole sale changes every year. When are we gonna go settle down in the transfer window.
Dan Burn will be next, anybody wanna bet he’ll be gone before the transfer window closes.
Bogle should be kept and used to get us out this bullchite Div1 and after that hopefully flog for a decent money.
To spend good money on Bogle then ask him to take a huge step up to the Championship then dump him ?28 July 2017 at 1:58 am #160695I don’t even think Power or Bogle are guaranteed starters, so I’m not that bothered if they go.
As long as we keep Burn, Morsy Powell and Grigg. The backbone.
28 July 2017 at 2:08 am #160696Don’t think we will Vat.
28 July 2017 at 3:17 am #160698Whether Powel or Bogle are good enough is immaterial. With a week to go until the season opens this should not be the sort ofnews we are hearing.
The fact that this kind of stuff is going on off pitch and players are turning to social media to publicise it really worries me about Cook’s managerial control.
Fair enough if we don’t want players who don’t want to be with us, bit the way this is bein managed is a joke. Not helped by Cook’s comments in the press about McKay or Morsy. Does make you wonder if it’s just injury keeping Grigg, etc off the field.
Wouldn’t surprise me if we start the season with half the squad being youngsters. A far cry from the what we were told a couple of months back about the core of the squad being kept together.
28 July 2017 at 5:12 am #160699Don’t think we will Vat.Well, if it transpires that we have something of a ‘fire sale’ on the eve of the season, or at the transfer deadline and end up losing the likes of Grigg, Powell, Burn, Morsy, I am deadly serious that I will be down to that ticket office demanding a refund on the season tickets we have bought in good faith, based on the squad we have. Sounds dramatic? Yeah I know, but if you are buying a Monet, you expect a Monet. Not an Andy Warhol!
Imagine if you purchased a car, a decent spec car with a certain high spec engine and certain tyres…say high spec Continental brand or something like that. Yet when you went to pick up the car and start using it, you noticed the tyres had been changed for cheap budget brands and the engine had been swapped for a 1.3 litre diesel. You’d say “what the feck?” And demand your money back, based on misrepresentation of sale. Wouldn’t you?
I SINCERELY hope the club proves you wrong (not being funny there) because I think that would be the absolute death of this club and I doubt I’d be alone in wanting a refund. I’m keen on seeing young players come through, but not by being shoved into the mire like that. Gradually.
I’d be very surprised if Paul Cook was happy to work like that. Power and Bogle…yeah I can sort of understand them going and being let go. But none of the players who will be almost certain starters.
28 July 2017 at 1:14 pm #160703I would say that both Power and Bogle would be big assets to us in League One and I am a little bit concerned if the truth be known, who will be next Grigg, Morsey?

I’m not sure why these incidents would concern you about Cook’s management style & think we need to be careful not to take the players (or player in the case of Power) words at face value.
Power has said that he spoke with Cook in the first week of pre-season & said that if an offer came in from a Championship club then he would like to go. It would appear that neither Cook nor the club in general had a problem with that as he’s been involved in the pre-season games (prior to Notts County) & been used by the club for publicity. Same with Bogle.
The fact that both Power & Bogle have been dropped from the 1st team squads indicates to me that something has happened since then that Cook or the club, or both, are really unhappy with. In the case of Bogle it could also be that the club has accepted an offer & the buying club don’t want him to play in case he gets injured.
It’s normally pretty serious behaviour for a player to be dumped from the first team squad or a case of a player being so bad they want him to quit. I think that its highly likely that players such as Morsy, Burn, Grigg etc.. have also said that if offers come in from higher level clubs then they would be interested but they’re still involved with the first team squad so it indicates to me that their committment & effort isn’t in question but that the likes of Power have done something unacceptable in the club’s eyes.
The fact that Power has gone public in the way that he has & Bogle has issued a thinly veiled “I’m off” statement says more about them as players than it does about the club
IMO the club cannot allow the tail to wag the dog in terms of player behaviour & demands & if this has been the case then personally I back the club even if this sort of stuff isn’t particularly want I want to be hearing about 8 days before the start of the seasonPersonally I have never rated Power since the day he arrived & couldn’t understand why a) other supporters rated him in Lge1 & b) why he has always been getting linked with “bigger” clubs. I think his performances all last season & the fact that he was dropped in the run in showed that he isn’t as good as he thinks he is
28 July 2017 at 2:59 pm #160706Ive said it before and I’ll say it again neither Power or Bogle are anywhere near good enough for us if we want to be successful. Power contributes nothing and Bogel’s control is woeful he is always offside and is terribly slow sell them off quick sticks

Nothing of what is happening is anything much to do with Cook. Everything stems down from who controls the purse strings and balancing the books. At Latics like most clubs there is far too much going out compared to what goes in. Eg. just look at the size of the backroom staff clubs carry these days. Our backroom staff alone uses thousands of pounds worth of income per month.
28 July 2017 at 3:12 pm #160708Wouldn’t surprise me if we start the season with half the squad being youngsters. A far cry from the what we were told a couple of months back about the core of the squad being kept together. This is becoming my concern as well. Sharpe promised back at the end of last season that apart from 2/3 players, the nucleus of the team would not be affected.
28 July 2017 at 8:27 pm #160724Max Power wanted away so no surprise he’s off. The fact he chose to go public because the timing didn’t suit him is poor.
As for Bogle, his first game for us was his one and only stand out game Imo. But I can’t help feeling the club are at fault for this situation. 6 months on from buying him we’re selling him????
As shambolic as our transfer dealings have been over the last 4 years I am praying we get it right now. If they don’t then I can see crowds dropping off big style….28 July 2017 at 8:54 pm #160725All this coming out now …. AFTER discounted rate season ticket renewal deadline – Coincidence ?
28 July 2017 at 9:42 pm #160727Max can now join the JUDAS club. He’s just another two faced egotistical badge kisser; who is only average at his very best ! So goodbye Johnny Big Bollocks.
