I didn’t so I am ideally placed to give an objective and positive match report. I was there in spirit, occasionally glancing at the BBC written commentary, in my mind and spirit and the 2 minute highlights with all that virtual presence I think I can have a pretty fair shot at a match report. A win would have been good. But right now, more than anything we need points. So it was good to give one or 2 of the lads a rest, and a couple of the others a run out. No one shamed themselves against the now mighty Leicester. What’s more we even scored a goal for which VAR was WRONG wrong. Every fan likes to have a scapegoat, it was Jordi, it was Naismith but Kal has come good …. so its now Windass. Unfairly so. he puts a good shift in, which is more than Moses did against Wolves. Once Windass is no longer the scapegoat … it’ll be Lowe, but not yesterday … he scored a good goal from a perfect cross. Pearce’s og was just hard luck. Another bit of tough luck going our way, as was the deflection. We kept some nice possession, and battled hard and even got some good attacks in, whilst the defence were solid. All in all a good game, a good shift and a reasonable result ….. considering. I would like to see Gelghart on though, just to make sure he is all he’s cracked up to be. Dowell slipped into his little slot perfectly.

Morsy, the kingpin of the team, both a defending and an attacking midfielder, who is always there to do battle. A real terrier. Having had a good chat with his Dad at B’ham, I know Sam is a good lad.

Wigan played with such positive ferocity that it was disappointing to hear comment from true Wigan fans who were saying things like ‘the league is more important’, ‘we’ve got our cup, someone else’s turn’, Disappointing because Wigan are known for irritating most other clubs by getting ‘under their skin’ and ‘punching above their weight’. It’s a shame we didn’t really go for it, and make another visit to the aptly named ‘DW South’, at which we were becoming quite at home; it was only 6 games away”.

Still, only beaten once this decade.

Leicester where the better team even with ten changes.we tried so fairplay to the latics we are simply not good enough for cup shocks this year. I was impressed with Leicesters stadium and setup bars all round the ground.tremendous facilities.

I am not saying we would have won but if we had of had some of the missing players in our side and played some of the football we’ve
played of late I’m dam sure we would have give them a game.

Although they looked good they didn’t rip up any trees

I’d beg to differ there to be honest.

Their passing was spot on, direct to the man not yards behind him, their ball control was spot-on, not like ours bouncing yards away off our feet, their movement off the ball was effective, the through balls they played were incisive.
They looked like they are, a top Premier League club.
It doesn’t mean we should roll over, but to keep them down to two (and maybe if VAR hadnt’t intervened we could have given them a rough last 10 minutes) was well done, but you can’t dismiss them.

And the wigan delusions of grandeur are at it again.

Who were we actually missing? Byrne, Robinson and Jacobs from what will probably be our 11 on Saturday?

Predictable response from someone expecting us to lose and not being disappointed even though we put up a good show.

No, I didn’t expect us to win but we did “give them a game” even without the missing players, whoever they may have been. You can’t resist having a dig can you despite a good performance against a strong top three Premier League team.
