Wigan have told sky sports that mcarthur is not for sale

26 August 2014 at 10:44 pm #133112If Leicester or indeed Burnley meet his valuation, I would urge James Thur to think long and hard about jumping ship.
Both those clubs will almost certainly be fighting a relegation battle this season, so could be back in the Championship next season.
At the moment his place in the Latics starting 11 is almost guaranteed, his form has got him retained in the Scottish National squad for the Euros. If he doesn’t get regular game time at either EPL or Championship level, Strachan will almost certainly look to someone who is playing for their club week in week out. Good examples of players who have been overlooked at national level due to lack of game time are Heskey and Moses.
If his only carrot is wages, then good luck to him, but watch this space if he does move on.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!27 August 2014 at 2:12 am #133122Ssn are saying leicester are in talks with wigan now after initial fee was rejected
27 August 2014 at 1:14 pm #133130He’s gone – Whelan has spoken. 5.5 mill should do it I reckon.
27 August 2014 at 7:25 pm #133140So, according to Sky, Leicester have reached Wigan’s valuation for McArthur and he’s having a medical and discussing personal terms.
I hope he doesn’t leave, but if he does, then I wish him good luck at Leicester and thank him for his service to us.

You’ve really no idea how this football malarkey works have you?
And for £6.5m you’d be turning down the offer to sell one of your kidneys would you?

Whelan never stands in any player’s way. The lad obviously wants to go, and why wouldn’t he?
So, good luck to him and well done to Whelan for getting a decent price.
27 August 2014 at 9:51 pm #133149Clubs going in the wrong direction and sinking ship comes to mind .Sod this club I`m going watching United next year in the Championship .HO HO HO
27 August 2014 at 10:22 pm #133150I heard it was 7 million. Good price but Whelan said this season he wants automatic promotion. Can’t expect that by selling your best players. If he spends all the funds on players then fair enough but you ain’t going to get much quality for 7 million on two players these days. Still admire what Whelan has done, even if he pulls the plug we have reached heights and won things that I never expected so I say thanks to him.

My kidneys will be like a coral sponge I’d probably get a cup of warm pish for emIf your ambition is to stay in the Championship then 6.5 million or whatever the fee is, it’s a good price, thing is, you cant have your cake and eat it.
And at this moment in time he’s our best player by a country mile, the 1 in 1 out rule will not get you into the Prem. Also, were’s the players coming through gone ?? , we use to be dab handed at nurturing players going right back to the McCulloch days then the likes of , Baines , Valencia ,N’Zogbia , Moses , McCarthy , MacManaman.
Right now I see nothing coming through and at a time when we need them the most. What’s the scouts doing ?? fookin sack em I say

McCulloch, Baines , Valencia ,N’Zogbia , Moses , McCarthy , MacManaman – ‘coming through’?This has to be a wind-up. Baines and MacManaman – fair enough. The others cost us in the region of £15 million to buy!
