Wrexham, no doubt he’ll start against us Tuesday. Another f##ker who’s left it till the start of the season, thanks and bye shut the door behind you please.
I’m glad tbh cause his legs have well and truly gone.
So my million dollar question is, the dickhead clause in the contracts ? I take it it’s in place till their contract ends ? even outside the transfer window.
So 10 games in anyone can leave and we can’t replace them outside the transfer window ??This needs f##kin nippin in the bud
4 August 2023 at 6:29 pm #200577At least we get a fee…..so another big earner gone. Just F#### me off the timing…..day b4 our opener …..Squad looking a bit thin. Not even got to 1st game and injuries starting to accumulate. Magennis is the one…..Big wage and unlikely to get consistent run of games. Wyke ,fingers crossed can stay available. Personally I’m sorry to see him go…..been a rock for us but just another example of the long term financial damage Danson has inherited from the previous toe rag owner.
4 August 2023 at 6:54 pm #200578Legs may have gone and he may well have struggled to get into the team but he is another ‘old head ‘ that has gone . We need two or three experienced players in the squad to guide the youngsters and I am now seriously beginning to doubt that we have enough experience to get us out of this mess. Derby were fearing McClean would intimidate their players and the simple fact is he probably would have done. I am looking at the squad now and thinking who can give us that steel when things are not going to plan, when our backs are against the wall ? Hope I am wrong and I hope we can bring in replacements but this is a massive blow just as we are about to kick off the season.
4 August 2023 at 7:09 pm #200579Deal worth £250,000 to us and £8,000 a week 1 year deal with a possible further year, basically Championship money in League Two. The deal could cost Wrexham over a £1million in total
Is Brannigan at Wrexham ?
4 August 2023 at 8:45 pm #200581McClean had not signed any new contract with Latics so we get no fee. It seems the club told him Monday he doesn’t fit the clubs criteria age wise so hes not wanted.
By the sounds of it it was the club not McClean so fair do’s

4 August 2023 at 9:38 pm #200582Whatever the circumstances, lets thank James for all the emotion and effort that he put into his games for the Tics. If only some of the journeymen, that have crossed our touch line, played with the same level of commitment, they would be fit to lace his boots !
5 August 2023 at 2:47 am #200583An interesting bit of Wigan Sporting Company business. Latics lose another player and save more money and bring in a small transfer fee while last week the Cuckoos sign Tyler Dupree from Salford which was Salfords record fee received.
Just a coincidence??5 August 2023 at 7:05 am #200585Hang on a sec, so everytime a player is bought or sold via both codes within a week or your going to draw a link ?. I can smell some conspiracy steaming hot bullsh*t on its way.
McClean’s time at Latics had run its course. For me his legs have gone and numerous times last year he was duly caught out.
The guy loves the club there’s no doubt about that but, I’m confused about how and why he left.
I quote a post from him:-“I was commited to this club, I couldn’t have tried more to show that, all summer the talks I had about extending my deal here were positive and I got lead to believe that would be the case.
Monday, 5 days out from the start of the season, a season were I was honoured to be asked to captain and lead this club forward I was then told that any new deal was not going to happen as unfortunately I don’t fit the criteria of the new ownerships model as I am over the age of 32 to extend which left me with the most difficult desicion I have to make in this game but look that’s football.
That’s life and the new ownership don’t owe me anything.
I don’t want this to come across negative I just felt it’s important to explain why.
This is a club I love and wish this club all the success in the world”.So based on the above quote from McClean that he wasn’t offered a new deal and pushed out the door how can we command a fee ?.
So reading between the lines he’s saying he trained and worked for nothing since his old contract ran out and he was waiting on a new deal ? that I find very hard to believe.
It’s confusing, for us to command a fee of £250k from Wrexham he needed to be contracted to us which by his account he wasn’t.So he had infact signed a new recent 1 year deal and was trying to negotiate a years it he wanted or either him or the club are telling porkies.
5 August 2023 at 7:33 am #200588My last words on his departure,
The worrying thing for me is McClean, Power, Jones were all senior players, all passionate about the club and I’m sure wouldn’t be scared of speaking their minds in the changing room when needed.
Yes the squad was an overpaid overaged squad but I personally feel we still needed to keep one or two who hold the club close to heart.
I have to agree with the clubs policy though. For years I’ve been saying the squads always been to old and we never utilise the youth squads
Now is the time so hats off to the club
1) getting age down
2) getting the stupid mad wage bill downI think McClean was after 1 year with an option of a further year which Wrexham have crazily offered.
5 August 2023 at 11:30 am #200590An interesting bit of Wigan Sporting Company business. Latics lose another player and save more money and bring in a small transfer fee while last week the Cuckoos sign Tyler Dupree from Salford which was Salfords record fee received.
Just a coincidence??I wrote a couple of weeks ago either on here or LS that Latics are weakening the squad and I said you watch the lardies strengthen their squad, I was right!
This is what we are going to get from now on none stop bickering on this subject, it won’t be long before all the funds are in the same pot and for me if there is money available for players it should be shared equally.
No favouritism please Mr Danson.
Fuck the EFL
5 August 2023 at 12:15 pm #200592An interesting bit of Wigan Sporting Company business. Latics lose another player and the money pit black hole is slightly smaller and bring in a small transfer fee while last week the Warriors sign Tyler Dupree from Salford which was Salfords record fee received and in return Brad Singleton moved the other way.
Edited for accuracy.
5 August 2023 at 12:21 pm #200593No favouritism please Mr Danson.
Its called “Living within your means”. No more stupid wages for mediocre knackers. The piss taking party is over.
If Hollywood FC want to pay stupid wages for a 34 year old whose legs have gone then more fool them. Once their owners have got bored with their toy, it will all come crashing down, just as it has done twice in Wigan.
