I don’t want Bramble to have the captain’s armband, I just want to see him concentrate on defending (and obviously the occasional playmaker ball). Bramble’s become a cracking player in the past two seasons but he still has those moments of madness. If you give him the armband I think it will detract from his performances.

I would have suggested Caldwell because it might give him a better sense of responsibility, and when he’s not being sent off he does command the back four to some degree. If he’s going to be out for about 5 months though it isn’t going to be a very good move to make him captain.

Honestly, I struggle to see who we should choose unless we bring somebody in this summer who has had the experience before. I mean, Figueroa was pretty much an ever-present this season and last but I have no idea how well he communicates or gets along with everybody else in the team, do you?
