Been quite a few and I’m sure there’s more than none of us have mentioned
Baines at Ipswich
Ellington at Chesterfield and Wolves
McEwan hit a couple
Tony Kelly free kick v Doncaster (I think)
That Roberts goal and all 3 Latics goals v Reading (just cos of what it meant)
Bobby Campbell v Rotherham and i’m sure he once scored from a corner where he ran to the left of the goal and headed it in top right.
All ones already mentioned by others were belters…Smeets was v Brentford and wasn’t Powell’s v Rotherham?26 October 2010 at 7:07 am #49285ellingtons volley (possibly half volley) at coventry on a snowy tuesday night at highfield road, what a goal that was it certainly got the 2,500 travelling fans warmed up although it resulted in me throwing up everywhere after feeling sick all day at school,i managed get out at dinner because i was ill the next thing i know iam on the motoway going to coventry my dad actually thought i threw a sicky just to get their
26 October 2010 at 1:01 pm #49289Baines vs United? That free-kick :D:?
That was a great goal but there’s certainly been a lot better and more important.
N’Zogbia v Arsenal ….. one of our best and most important of last season.
26 October 2010 at 2:42 pm #49293For pure undulterated joy and emotion my top 3 are:
1. Ellington’s goal against Reading that sealed promotion to the Premier League
2. Unsworth’s penalty to keep us in the Premier League
3. Robert’s goal at Highbury (I was in the car driving away from the ground and heard it on the radio, almost crashed)To prove my credentials as a superfan:
1. Tommy Gore at Chelsea in the Cup 1980
2. Maurice Whittle against Sheff Weds circa 77/78
3. Any of the five goals we scored against Port Vale after being 3-0 down in the early eighties28 October 2010 at 7:28 pm #49509I once remember Ian Gillibrand smashing one in from around the half-way line. Spectacular goal in many ways because, he only scored a handful in his entire career, he played centre-half but hardly ever went up for corners and set-pieces (he was tiny for a centre-half), and it was a stunning strike, so much so that it has stayed in my memory for 40 years.

Notice those highlights don’t show Arry’s header that so was so far over the line the defender had to keep his balance using the net at the back. The lino spotted their goal going half an inch over the line but not ours that was half a foot.
Most of the ones that come to mind have been mentioned tbh. Teale at PNE in the 4-2 win was a cracker as was Teale at Ipswich in the 3-1 win (same season I think). Some others
Roberts debut back heel at PNE.
Liddell v Notts County in the Championship winning season.
Dinning v Stoke in the 6-1.
Seem to recall Andy Porter spanking one in from about 30 yards at PNE when we were 2-0 up and drew 2-2 (wore that green kit) -
