you above all others on this board defend gomez and tell us about him being technicaly our best player, i admire your support for him.
well today was the start of the third season i have seen him play and forgive me but i just dont get it – he is ordinary at best and a liability in general and offers as much as both koumas and de ridder did to our side (both technicaly gifted but useless) – i really dont see what you do when watching him.

on a positive note piscu(lopez) was outstanding, i hope he can do the same against pace and power of premiership fowards, and we may struggle to hang on to moses before the transfer deadline.

just to add i didn’t like the ironic cheers when he was substituted either.

Will you be joining us for pre match drinks and confab next week ?

He did some good things and a lot of not so good things. Nothing bad enough to warrant the usual hysterical reaction he got.

For those who have ever bothered to read what I write, I’ve said hd hasn’t been worth a place in the team for 18 months. I just wish he’d have managed to step up as required, but he hasn’t. Think he has only been keeping Hugo’s shirt warm for him pre-season

Oh, and Piscu was outstanding? Far too lightweight to play centre-back in the Prem, but just goes to show it’s all about opinions.

I didn’t see the game yesterday, but would this be the same lightweight Piscu who kept one of the most physical centre forwards in the top flight (Kevin Davies) more or less in his pocket in the FA Cup last season?
Its only first impressions but I think Bobby has unearthed a good un there

Hello all Cockney Latic users, you have a new arrival :D

True die hard fan, who only follows 1 team in Wigan!
          Blue & White army!

          About Gomez & Lopez……

Gomez, DEFINATLY not good enough :( But next week i can see him playing? O NO! Who else can we play on the wing other than Victo Moses? & Rodellega not played a minutes worth of football for us yet in pre-season? If i was in charge id bring McCmannaman into the fold or even put Watson out wide cutting in & put McCarthur/Jones in the middle.Stam not good enough either, so in my eyes not much choice im afraid!
          Any thoughts?

As 4 Lopez looks like a class act.
Watched him at notlobs & city last season, centre back, right back positions, was solid. Looks like a good player who can play all across, but we havn’t seen enough of him yet!

If any 1 has done a fantasy football team, Victor Moses bargain of the season. N;Zogbia, who’s that?!?!?!

Didn’t say he wasn’t a good ‘un, but yesterday he got shoved off the ball a lot. I’ll put it down to just taking it easy in a pre-season friendly. Not sure how you can comment if you didn’t see him yesterday.

Oh, and that FA cup game at Bolton was probably less competitive than yesterday’s game. He looked classy Shen he played at City too, but I just think he will need to toughen up a bit more. Not saying he can’t do it…

            #69690

            I can comment coz I wasn’t commenting on yesterday’s game!! ;)
The point was that centre forwards don’t get much more physical in the premier league than Kevin Davies & in a fully competitive game (Bobby might not have taken it seriously but Owen Coyle certainly did judging by his line ups in both games) Piscu didn’t look lightweight at all to me

As we say time will tell as to whether he’s a good un but my first impressions of him are nowt but positive & I hope that if at some stage in the season Alcaraz or Caldwell aren’t available that its Piscu & not Gohouri who is called up & then retains that spot

            I’d certainly agree with that.

I’m still not sure that most of our up and under, 442-only, blood and snot, “‘ommer him!”, “put it in row Z” fans will appreciate how good technically he really is.
