What do ya think about last nights controversial decision to make 10 yes 10 changes from the side that beat Spurs at the weekend ! I feel for the fans who forked out £42 to see a reserve side at Old Trafford for the 2nd time this season ! ( They played Utds reserves int cup earlier in season and got stung for £42 then ! ) The top sides wouldn’t be too pleased either I would imagine ! It is tantamount to bringing the game into disrepute in my eyes ! Discuss !

I feel very sorry for the fans who travelled and shelled out £42. Mind you, until fans start refusing to pay those sorts of prices, they’ll never come down. Thats another issue.

But it all smacks of double standards. The big clubs with managers like Wenger are the first to start moaning about weakened sides, then are the first to do it – e.g Liverpool at Fulham that nearly sent us down, and Utd last season. The pressure put on us to put on a show in a meaningless game for us vs Utd 2 seasons ago….I’d have been tempted to play the reserves that day. The PL have written to Wolves asking for an explanation but took no action against Utd or Liverpool in the other cases

I quite admire McCarthy for having the balls to make a decision that he thought was right for his team – if he really thinks it’ll help him get 3 pts against Burnley, that could be the result that keeps them up. I’d call that strong management, whether you agree with his judgement or not. The fact that Utd operate in a different world where the likes of McCarthy can’t imagine getting a result at Old Trafford is an indictment on the PL rather than McCarthy.

Considering we played our full team and got stuffed 5-0 at home, then sound slike Mick made a sound move ! I would have taken 3-0 !

It’s an interesting move and one which will make him look a bit of a p if Burnley win. Personally, I see no reason why our overpaid primadonnas should find playing 40 games in a season a problem without being wrapped in cotton wool. I’ve always been a firm believer that you should always play your best side available, whoever you’re playing, if only as a duty you have to the paying fans.

I’ll post this, as it is not latics related.

Respect to McCarthy. He’s the manager, so he can pick what team he wants.
I cannot believe the fall-out from this. What? Wolves fans moaning about him dropping players? Some woman moaning on Sky that she had “bought an away season ticket, so expects the first team to play”. Rubbish. People bought them no matter what. And as for £42 a ticket? Well don’t go then. Simple. I fell into the trap with our away season ticket, and after paying £48 for Chelsea, I swore never to do it again.

Mick McCarthy has it spot on. How often do United lose two home games on the trot? Not often. Mick knew the score, and so decided to rest players for the Burnley game. I’d have done the same.

I’m very dissappointed by the Premier Leagues response. Nobody said sod all when Benitez rested players on that last game of the season a few seasons back. And now Wolves have done it, they are getting all high and mighty about it. It’s a load of rubbish, and further proof, not that we need it, that it’s “one rule for one….one for the other”.

And let’s be honest, United had some fringe players playing. Where’s that De Lauf, or whatever his name is come from?

Once again, Sky Sports show exactly how much power they have in the game, by reporting on things and causing a stir. It wouldn’t be a Premiership weekend without some controversy, would it? It’s SKY who are ruining the game. Have been for years.

What next? Sky Sports to have a say in managers team selections?

Vat69 – looks like you agree with me!

And at the risk of going too deep at the psyche of it, in Sky/Prem terms the likes of us and Wolves are just fodder for the big 4 clubs – so the prawn sandwich brigade can open their hampers and sit back and join the goal fest. But they’re arrogant enough to want it to be the best team that the others can put out so they can smirk even more. They think that the likes of Wolves and us should feel honoured to play at their palaces – that is all we can aspire to. When the likes of McCarthy reject that “deal”, it becomes an affront to their power and ego – playing at Old Trafford should be the height of their season – why are they not taking it seriously?

The ego of it becomes apparent when they play weakened teams against the rest. Ferguson said something last season about his weakened team still being one of the best in the division – maybe so, but its still a weakened team and is not showing their opponents and the rest of the division any respect.

Like I said, I’m not sure McCarthy has made the right decision, but at the end of the season he’ll be judged on whether he has kept them up, not whether he kept the score at Old Trafford down to 2-0 instead of 5-0. Sky helped create the financial monster that is the Premier League – they can hardly complain when the smaller clubs start playing the tactics to stay in it.

              2nd rant over!

Why aint anybody waiting till after weekend games? When the Wolves are above us at the weekend then Mick will turn out to be a genius whilst our manager will be picking positives out of yet another defeat and stating we are in an ok position

              #15555

Given that we are due to lose this weekend then, how would you suggest the manager approach the pres conferences then. Slag of the team and the lack of fans, then undermine his own signings and players lacking in confidence. Yep that’s the way to get the team winning.

Any more bright tips you can suggest for the manager and club?

Football is a squad game, that’s why they are all given numbers. Managers should be able to pick who they want from that squad.

Squads – they’re the future. We should get one

What he did the other sums up how ridiculous football has become.Success is measured by surviving a relegation battle and one that involves about 12 clubs. The modern game stinks and i feel sorry for their supporters who paid £42 (for the worst spec in Old Trafford-laugh or what?) for that.He will pay for that because you do not f@@K with the god football and no matey interview is goona get him off the hook.
Ps he also looks like Bert off Sesame st

If Wolves beat the Dingles tomorrow with their rested side he will be hailed as a hero even by the fans who can afford to pay £42 to go to Old Trafford.

If they loose the press will have a field day with him.

Fair play to McCarthy…he has shown alot of balls taking this decision.

They could have taken their first eleven and got hammered by more than three anyroad.

Well done Mick…..Still hope the game is a draw though!
