Moneyball

Watched the film last night, it’s a good one for anyone that hasn’t seen it, for those that have, what did you think about the scene with John W Henry?

I got me thinking about the high regard he must have for bobby, and the stark comparisons that the oakland A’s have with the latics, more so the way that they were run and our present situation, it really is quite similar.

Henry obviously buys into that mentality, and with the red sox he cut the wage bill and at the same time won the world series, I can’t help but think that bobby was his first choice to get that going at Liverpool, why bobby turned them down we’ll never really know, but just as billy beane used to play for the A’s, then ended up running the show, working on a shoestring budget and surviving, eventually thriving among the super rich big hitters, bobby is doing the same, and should be commended for it, people like Henry don’t get where they are without knowing a thing or two, we’re very lucky to have him.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I’d recommend it, great film for sports fans, and for the ladies there’s some ugly bloke called brad Pitt or something playing the lead.
