I have an Acer 5920 laptop and the screen flickers like crazy, sometimes worse than others ! I have been on several sites looking for a solution but they all seem to go down the line of either change screen resolution ( Doesn’t work ) or unplug from charger ( Pathetic !! ) Sometimes changing the angle of the lid/screen seems to stop it but of late that remedy is starting to have little effect ! Can anyone suggest what my problem might be ( Serious answers please ! ) I was thinking maybe it was a software issue, say graphics card but I aint no expert ! Or could it be the wire from the screen that surely must run through one of the hinges !

My laptop updates all the drivers on a regular basis so all I can assume is that the graphics card is up to date !

Best bet is to part exchange as it will probably cost to get fixed.

Forgive my ignorance but A) How do you alter refresh rate ? and B) What happens to all my stuff on my lap top if I part exchange ? I have always wondered what will happen to all my music files, pictures and stuff should this thing just not turn on one day. In fact I have a hell of a lot of stuff on my laptop that I wouldnt want to lose ! !! I regularly back up my files but dont really know what would happen in the event of a disaster !!
2 August 2011 at 2:18 pm #69403When you right click on your desktop, select properties and the settign tab (assuming you use windows xp), then the advance settings button and the monitor tab, you will see a screen refresh rate, which you can change to say 75 hertz. This might fix your screen problems?
If you want to back up your porn, or equivalent music files etc buy an external hard drive, no more than £50.

That way you back up your files and when you sell the laptop, you can format the thing before selling.
3 August 2011 at 1:59 am #69452Turns out I did know how to alter refresh rate and it is set at 60 Hertz with no option to change it on the drop-down !! I will just see what happens ! I think it is a loose wire in the hinge myself !! Cheers though !! ;)
