than a warrior fan who actually lives in wigan
while in a cue at a intown takeaway after the lodgers game 15 plus of those two hats
i asked how they had got on
i then asked where they came from they replied chorley, horwich ,bolton
i was asked are you a latics fan ?
to which i replied yes i am from wigan
well documented that we have more “wigan” support from our town than our lodgers….it’s just the stereotypical image and deluded beliefs that some people have about the town that think it’s still a “flat cap, pint of mild, pitman, rugger league town” (RL had the past, football has the future)
Now…where’s that stat’s table that show wafc TOP of the prem table for local support with regards to vicinity of our stadium…….sure someone on here can find it…was last season sometime i think.
The nearest rugby team to most of those places would be Wigan. If they were from places like Salford, Widnes or say London then of course that would be wrong. Plenty Wigan born people move out of Wigan as well you know. There are quite a few on here.
Don’t forget that being the biggest name in the sport is bound to see us carrying several add on fans from nearby villages and towns ;)

As sad as it is Salford is full of Wigan Rugby fans and they aint ever lived in Wigan (glass houses and all that).
Then the b*stards have the cheek to tell me they bet I didn’t support Wigan before we came up to the PL?!?!?!?!?
Gotta be talking a few hundred who should at least be interested in their local rugby team in Salford City but to be fair part of those Wigan Fans could be from the average 3000 crowds of Swinton Lions who were hung out to dry once the ground was sold and they f*cked off to Bury.
I used to work for an engineering manufacturing business in Blackburn and one of the Machinists was secretary or president of his local working mans club, they were also the home for the worriers supporters club north and east lancashire branch, he used to tell me they had members(the worriers section) from as far away as burnley, clitheroe, longridge, preston and colne, which amounted to about 400 to 500 or so, as they had to be members of the working mans club as well.
He claimed quite a few were season ticket holders at the DW and made their own way to matches every week, but on big games like saints or leeds, they used to run as many as 5 or 6 coaches from the club.
He said it was a good earner for the club when they had functions and regular visits from players, and both before and after the coach trips to those big games.
